Like the Dark World in A Link to the Past, the grim future realized in Ocarina of Time is a mangled reflection of a once cheerful environment. In the future, Hyrule grieves as the Zora Domain is reduced to an icy wasteland when formerly it hosted a spectacular waterfall and swimming natives. Soulless creatures shriek when you wander the smoking rubble where once a bustling town flourished.

If you play your cards right, don't abandon the classic formulas, and continue to innovate, anything is possible, as shown in this, one of the best games ever created - on any system - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

If I have one major gripe with this game, it is the perspective from which you play. (Well, that and the ANNOYING little faerie who flits around being a complete airhead.) Sometimes it became difficult or impossible to really see what I was doing due to the perspective.

No matter how many I save, how many I defeat, the question is never far behind. Is this a burden that all heroes carry, bound before the path? Every step I take, grasping for the earth, brings me closer to death. But even as I lay beneath the silence of night, when all that trembles is doubt, music comes to soothe my soul. As my weary hand finds the ocarina, I hear the melody on my fingertips. The sound of the sky, of the rivers and fields, echoes each sweeping note. Restless in its wake, the sw...

Isn't it ironic how the "Greatest video game ever made" was supposed to put Nintendo back on top, but instead led them to their inevitable downfall? Despite becoming the most commercially successful Zelda game to date with more than 7 million copies sold worldwide, in addition to being mentioned on virtually every "best of" list imaginable from critic and gamer alike, not even Ocarina of Time could save the Nintendo 64 from suffering humiliation at the hands of Sony. The 'Big N' who once ...

There's no way I can make an introduction to this game that doesn't sound melodramatic, but I really don't care. No matter how sappy it might sound, to be completely honest this game changed my life. It shocked me out of complacency about videogames (or, to use the overused and irrelevant phrase, my casual gamer status) and led me to realize that games can and should be far greater than mere time wasters; far more important than something to do for fun. It grabbed my life, dominated my though...

As Nintendo careens toward a purgatorial stasis, a descent fueled by its irrationality as well as its irrelevance, it's impossible to not lament its better days. For the same company who now relies on portable non-games to keep breath in its collapsing lungs once made the greatest game ever released. That game is Zelda: The Ocarina of Time.

The Nintendo 64 console has gained some infamy over the years for having quite possibly the worst lineup ever seen in a successful console. This is due partially to the fact that Nintendo severely limited the number of third-party developers that were able to make games for the system, and largely because Nintendo opted to stick with a cartridge-based format in an age where everybody and their dogs had made the transition to compact discs, which hold about 10 times as much memory as the largest ...

The Zelda series is definitely the best puzzle-type game for the action/rpg genre. And Ocarina of time is by far the high point for the Zelda history. I love this game unlike any of the others, and this is the game that really put Zelda on my map. There was so much to this game, and all of it was great. Besides Ogre Battle 64, and possibly Castlevania, Ocarina of Time was the best game to ever appear on the Nintendo 64.

This was the game people had been waiting long long years for. In movie sense, it is Star Wars Episode One. However, with expectations this high, Zelda 64 was bound to disappoint some people, myself included.

The elfin warrior clad in a forest green tunic dashes in at breakneck speed on his noble white-maned steed, decimating the frontal forces of the Skeletons with a dozen well-cast arrows zeroed in where a living being’s heart would be. Vaulting off his horse, changing from cavalry to sword master in a lesser span of time than a heartbeat, he takes his blade out of his scabbard, and after a threatening thrust meant as a warning to the skeletons, he gyrates in a 360 with such proficiency and prowess...
