In Ridge Racer, though, none of the tracks—even the two bonus ones—include more than a few corners that you might call “sharp.” Old Town, one of the added tracks, includes a single ‘S’ curve near its conclusion that is an example of the sort of thing that should have been more common throughout the game.

Before we get started however, there's the small issue of a recently added plural form to deal with. Serving as something of an ultimate Ridge Racer remix, Ridge Racers combines the myriad courses, drift styles and assorted beats of its predecessors in the creation of a single, glorious whole. Every track, every sound, everything you've come to know and love about the series, served up mix and match style with you, the gamer in mind.

The first thing that pops up when you switch the game on is a retro arcade game from Namco's archives. Ridge Racer, it's "New" Rally-X, a top-down 2D 8-bit wonder from 1981 which involves you steering a little blue go-kart around to collect all the flags on a map and trying to avoid little red go-karts that want to crash you.
