Two thousand years later, a demonic man named Dante unearths clues that reveal an attempt by the Devil to resurrect his rule. Somewhere within Dante lies ancient demon blood, the key to defeating the dark realm. The fate of the world now rests in Dante's hands. If he succeeds, the Devil May Cry.

Reader review by bluberry (March 01, 2007) Talk of Devil May Cry being a Resident Evil sequel may seem less ridiculous in light of the fairly slick RE4, but even then it's a bit of a stretch. It's tough to imagine that the game was originally set to be a slow trek through cramped corridors, or that its arsenal of shotguns, pistols, and grenade launchers would have limited and carefully rationed ammo, or that its sword-toting antihero Dante might have been caught wielding a puny knife. More than anything, I can't picture him obeying those...

Reader review by lilica (January 19, 2005) In their efforts to show off how much they know, more than a few Capcom enthusiasts are quick to point out that Devil May Cry was originally intended to be the fourth official Resident Evil. Not only is this statement irrelevant (and possibly false) but it’s also misleading: Devil May Cry mirrors the Resident Evil series neither in play nor in pacing.

Reader review by ratking (August 19, 2002) I know millions of people will be up and arms when I say this, but I think Devil May Cry was Capcoms greatest achievement. Here me out before you go out and get your pitchforks and torches. Anybody can play Devil May Cry, and anyone can have fun with it. There is only one real flaw in the game, and it is a great experience nonetheless. There is a simple combination of strategy, skill, and a large handful of pure action. A great combination for a quick pickup, and loads of fun.

Reader review by vince (Date unavailable) With beautiful graphics, crisp sound and music, excellent game play, this should keep you enthralled for hours at least. Among the obvious, this game holds the two greatest things that make a great video game. Big swords and unlimited ammo.
