Wow, a game in which you aren't even sure about the real plot. Sounds intriguing and confusing simultaneously.

So is there really much more to the game play than exploring rooms and trying to figure out the massively confusing plot with a few half-assed puzzles sprinkled in? Or is that pretty much it?

I can see why this would be passed over, since Myst kicks much ass. Even if you've finished it, it's still fun to romp through all the strange worlds.

Randxian, yeah, that's pretty much it. One of the reasons I went back and edited this review was because my original was twice as long without saying anything else. Reading it recently in preparation for my YEAR IN REVIEW I realized that the problem was the game is kind've... lame, really.

There isn't really even any atmosphere, since they chose to go with musical talent Fat Man, who is a great composer but writes kind've smooth jazz electronica. Did not work for 7th Guest.
