Wow, your description really makes me think of the slow tedium of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I was never much for civilization type strategy games. I like the micro side of things more than the macro.

Europa Universalis III is pure perfection. If you're even remotely interested in the genre, it will consume your life. I love it.
