I recently got this one as part of the Humble Bundle Monthly package at the time, and I'm glad to have it and have a chance to see for myself the experience you describe. I didn't play the Spyro games back in the day, but I suspect I'll have a good time with these now because I was generally a fan of the type of game they are. I saw my friend playing it on PS4 and it looked like a good time, so if I get the chance to pick it up cheap on Switch (where I think it would be ideal), I'll probably do that too. Anyway, great review that I think does an excellent job of acknowledging the compilation's weakness in a way that makes it clear they certainly aren't likely to prove a weakness for everyone.

"What if everything you see is more than what you see--the person next to you is a warrior and the space that appears empty is a secret door to another world? What if something appears that shouldn't? You either dismiss it, or you accept that there is much more to the world than you think. Perhaps it really is a doorway, and if you choose to go inside, you'll find many unexpected things." - Shigeru Miyamoto on secret doors to another world2

Thanks for reading, Jason, and for the compliment. It was a tough one to review. I felt as if I had many takes within me, but you also don't want to feel like you copped out.
