This was a great review, but I felt that it spoiled things a little bit? I mean, I was actually thinking about picking this game up after reading a few paragraphs, but by the time I got to the end, I felt like I had learned everything there is to know about it. You didn't spoil the ending at least, but I felt like all of its most clever gimmicks had already been revealed to me and that playing it might feel redundant. Perhaps there are enough stones unturned to make it worthy of the buy, but I honestly have no idea if that's the case or not.

It was a hard call to bump you out of ROTW again this week, but I had to make it nonetheless. It's a very solid piece in every other respect.

At the risk of sounding defensive, I’m going to disagree with the spoilers tag. There’s nothing written about in this review that doesn’t either happen in the opening stage (kidnapping princesses, their familiarity with the villains and their henchmen) or isn’t already heavily advertised about the game pre-release (the reverse boss fights were a big selling point; the examples I used were all featured in the launch trailer). I don’t really hold my writing up to many standards and consider them self-contained rants on a word doc, but I hate reading reviews that overshare and potentially spoil games, so it’s probably the one thing I’m cautious about.

Still, I get (more than most) how hard it’s getting to find reasons to disclude reviews from RotW. But Nefarious has gone a little under the radar, which is shame as it’s a game that people with fond memories of 16bit platforming should be all over, so I’d rather not dissuade further people from playing it.

I understand. Maybe all the promotional materials are a bit spoilery too, then. However, there were a couple places in the review with a few minor/technical issues, so those were taken into account as well. Again, very minor stuff. Maybe I will check out this title after all.
