Never heard of cute-em-ups? Man, those are some of the more fun shmups out there. Well, some of them are. The older Twinbees are kind of blah and I haven't played the Super Famicom and PC Engine ones; but the Parodius games are pure gold.

I still love Fantasy Zone II. Some of the things it was willing to do you still don't see in shooters. And it was as adorable as it was unforgiving.

For us. For them. For you.

Yeah, I generally stay away from most shooters since I don't enjoy them as a general rule...so there are a lot of subgenres I haven't heard about and haven't played before. I noticed that this was labeled as a "cute-'em'up" when doing a bit of background research and saw the Parodius games mentioned as the standard in that subgenre. I'll probably have to check those out at some time, I actually enjoyed playing this game which, to me, was a pleasant surprise.
