Rockin. I wasn't sure how you were going to keep my interest in a review for a game I care nothing for, but the comparisons to Modern Warfare and using other shooters as the baseline for your discussion made it easy to follow what was good and bad about the game. Fun to read about innovations in the fps genre, geez.... it's been a while since we've had that. Too bad it completely fucks it up.

I wouldn't say "completely." It still does the tactical shooter thing the majority of the time, and when it does, it's fantastic. But I meant what I said: In this day and age, where every game wants to be Call of Duty/Gears of War, there's no excuse not to get this stuff right.

One of the things I didn't mention is that I elected to play the game on the highest difficulty right out of the gate, which made the stealth segments appropriately nerve-wracking but made the tedious shooter bits stick out all the more. I tried not to factor my frustration into the review, but it really was the sloppiness of the combat, and not the brutal difficulty itself, that made some parts of this game such a chore.

Thanks for reading!

Yeah, I don't review much any more, but I decided that if I am going to play a game for review, it's got to be on medium difficulty to maintain the flow. Tricky for me, because I really enjoy a challenge. I'm still proud of having beaten that Chernobyl level of Modern Warfare on hard.
