First RE 6 has a "leaked" trailer and now Lost Planet. Am I the only one that is starting to think Capcom is doing this on purpose?

They've been doing this on purpose since it happened by accident in DMC3 and they saw the viral response. Seriously.

I'm just stunned there's even going to be a Lost Planet 3.

I didn't think the first was great at all (Zig's review sums up my thoughts perfectly), and I thought LP2 had a lukewarm reception? Is there something I'm missing?

They're letting Spark Unlimited develop it. Given the quality of games that group usually produces--awful, awful, awful stuff, with only infrequent exceptions--they must be cheap. While Lost Planet 2 didn't enjoy huge success, it did inspire a dedicated following. A cheaply developed sequel could do okay for Capcom's bottom line.

"What if everything you see is more than what you see--the person next to you is a warrior and the space that appears empty is a secret door to another world? What if something appears that shouldn't? You either dismiss it, or you accept that there is much more to the world than you think. Perhaps it really is a doorway, and if you choose to go inside, you'll find many unexpected things." - Shigeru Miyamoto on secret doors to another world2

Jason's hit it right with that one. A publishing company as large as Capcom would see this as a no-loss scenario. They aren't spending any money on development, right? Isn't Spark a third party buy in?

Shame this franchise went the way it did, the first entry was a respectable amount of fun. Looked wonderful and was a great early gen experience.

Mobius 1, engage...

i actually had a pretty great time playing through lost planet 2 in splitscreen co-op. hopefully they keep that in 3. if so, i'll pick it up in the bargain bin after the inevitable bomba.
