They did this over Halloween too, which is when I got all the Pure Black/White Tendancy items. I wish something a little more interesting would happen... like all the bosses are wearing Santa hats or something.

Well, maybe one of those previously unaccessible items is a Santa hat. Allows you to summon a reindeer for illumination purposes for 30 seconds.
