The game was pretty easy, though. Even on hard. The dice maze was a decent challenge, mainly because if you mess up once you have to go all the way back to the start. Worst level ever.

I don't agree... later on, if you die at the boss's 3rd form or whatever, you start at the beginning of the level, which is Ninja Gaiden-level lameness. But on Easy, you can literally just walk through the entire game without even trying to dodge anything. So I'm just curious if he played on Easy or Normal.

The dice segment was a horrific moment. Whoever thought it was a great idea to put something like that in the game should burn.

I honestly believe that the dice maze level is, without question, where Gunstar Heroes reaches its peak. I can certainly lament some of the mini-boss battles -- specifically having to fight the doughy-looking Curry & Rice unarmed -- but the board game element shows a nice creativity that's lacking elsewhere in the game. (This extends to the level's end boss, whose attacks are based on where he stops after rolling a die. Neat stuff!)

I don't remember, Marc, but as a general rule I try to avoid playing through and reviewing a game on the easiest setting. I imagine that was the case here. There's not much point in complaining that a game is too easy if you're playing on its easiest difficulty setting.

I see. I agree with your take on the game, though. This game is crazy overrated by idiots like me. My review is about to be rewritten from scratch to reflect the so-so experience the game really offers.
