Very nice review, and I agree, this game is awesome, the best in the series certainly. Though I must confess, Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within, was pretty damn good, especially considering it was a fmv game.

I have been pestering EmP for years to play this one, maybe after reading this review, he'll finally do it and leave Halo and other unworthy crap for a few hours.

*nods* Great review. Think it conveys how the humour and the suspense mix really well.

One thing - I think you should mention the narrator. That all the descriptions are read by this somewhat helpful Voodoo Lady following Gabriel around in his mind. :)

Great game made even more awesome when it got voice work. Although I turned the narrator's voice off very quickly, she grated on me.

Sequel's pretty great too, although having an actual actor who looks like Gabe but sounds nothing like Tim Curry takes a little getting used to. Replayed that recently though (thanks much, Gog.com!) and have to say I'm still impressed by the quality. A rare example of a full motion game done right.

Gabriel Knight 3 was...mmm...well, at least Tim Curry reprises the role. Darn cliffhanger ending, too. We never did get our GK4.
