I've always read that the Working Designs' translation of this game was poor, but no one actually bothered explaining in detail why. This review had a pretty good explanation why! Good review, EmP.

You should follow this up by reviewing both GBA Shining Souls games. Back-to-back. Before the end of this month.

OD's words are those of a crazed madman. That is to say, they are filled with infinite wisdom.

C'mon, EmP. I love you, but typos in the rating box?!

"I can’t hate too much on the guys that bought over Alundra, but the lack of effort in providing a worthwhile localisation for the majority of the game’s audience is particularly damning. I don’t care, though: I sidestepped all that! "

The guys that brought over Alundra.

This one was particularly humourous to me, because where I come from to buy someone over is to pay them to be your bitch.

I'll take one typo happily. It still makes me less of a hack than WD.

Less of a hack than who exactly?

I'll read the review later when I have more time.

Anyway, ignore the mail I sent you. Or at least the second half of the first one. That joke was fail.

Yeah. You reviewed SS1. But not SS2. So I'm at least half right, which is good enough for me!

Fantastic work, man. Even reading this I can tell it was heavily researched. I applaud you immensely for that, especially since I know just how much time goes into research like this (or at least it would for me). Sometimes it's more effort than writing the review or playing the game itself. To add to that, the argument is sound and well-presented and I now have a clearer understanding of the Shining franchise than I ever would short of actually playing all of them.

As a bonus, I found only one other error that's more of a nitpick than anything else:

shoddy treatment of almost anything SEGA Saturn bound and

Hyphenate that; it's less awkward.

And people (yourself included) claim your Breath of Death review is better. I really have to read that one now.

Thanks. Even if I think BoDVIII turned out better, I'm much prouder of this one.
