I love reading about the days when gaming itself was a fresh concept. It does seem interesting that they'd make a clearly WWII-esque shooter sound like a space game just to fit the trendy mold. The reason it was renamed "Sky Blazer" for the Atari version was probably to avoid confusion with the animated TV series Star Blazers, which was popular back in 1980/1981.

Heh, Star Blazers.. I used to watch that each afternoon when I was about 7.
That's about when I started playing this game, too, but I don't think I ever
noticed the same names.

Your post prompted me to go dig out my 'Electronic Games' mag from
feb '84, and scan this page. It's a bunch of joke gaming awards called
'tops and flops of 1983':

Man. This is cool. I never got to read much of game mags when I was younger.

Star Blazer was, I think, the first game I solved on my own. Well, maybe Russki Duck. But Star Blazer was the first where I got to shoot people!
