2009 has been a good year for you so far, Jason. This review is solid analysis, without any of your usual gimmicks or self-deprecation.

This seems like a difficult game to review. Even though your review covered all the bases, it still sounds like one you just have to play and see if you like.

Considering I'm not a fan of disgaeia (quite the opposite, actually), I probably won't give it a shot.

This is the proofreader in me pointing something out:

Your objective is to gather together ingredients that will allow you to assemble an incredibly awesome desert ... an extraordinary quest of culinary proportions.

That should have been "assemble an incredibly awesome dessert". Because sand -- no matter how you prepare it -- is never good eats.

Thanks for pointing that out. I probably read through that line something like 5 times when I was polishing things up before posting the review and I never saw it. Now 120+ people (and counting) have seen my stupidity. Ah well. It's fixed now. Thanks again!

I was extremely disappointed with this game. I agree with the fact the play control could be much better and the game has too many cheap deaths.

This game has too many areas in which you know exactly what you need to do, but because of the sloppy control, you can't execute it. That is not good gaming at all.

It's too bad, because the graphics and music are great. The game comes with a music CD. It could've been a spectacular game if the controls were better.

I really wanted to like this game because of its great sense of style, something that Nippon Ichi so frequently gets just right. Prinny was no exception, but there were so many big issues that drug things down. It's still an interesting game and one that I'm happy to have experienced, but hardly one that I could recommend to anyone but diehard fans and the vaguely masochistic.
