this review should be a 10, not a 1 as listed. The reviewer, unless he has a very twisted sense of irony and satire, says as much at the end of the review.

I'm going for the twisted sense of irony and satire option.

Everyone should now read KB's Punch Out review. Or his review of Ecco the Dolphin, even though I disagree with it entirely and wrote my own 3/10 review in reaction to it!

The whole point of the review is that it's not fair to bash Mortal Kombat just because it's astonishingly awful, zipp. The bit about the 'ten' is a joke and the score of '1' is the only score that really makes sense after thoroughly reading the review. It was indeed satire.

"What if everything you see is more than what you see--the person next to you is a warrior and the space that appears empty is a secret door to another world? What if something appears that shouldn't? You either dismiss it, or you accept that there is much more to the world than you think. Perhaps it really is a doorway, and if you choose to go inside, you'll find many unexpected things." - Shigeru Miyamoto on secret doors to another world2

This review reminds me of how when I was starting to review, KB was one of those guys whose work I really looked up to as among the best being written at that time.

Yeah, same. Him and Runinruder pretty much ran the show for a while back then.

Now there's a blast from the past. Great review.
