So, I cut down a tree yesterday.

There was this old and rotted out tree standing on the side of my mom's driveway. The damned thing was about to keel over and probably cause some damage to the car (and possibly take down a few electrical wires), so I volunteered to go Evil Dead Bruce Campbell on it. A few grueling chainsaw sessions and five hours of gathering and bundling branches, the tree has been reduced to a big pile of sticks for the garbagemen to pick up in the morning. Since I spent the time annihilating the tree, I didn't get a chance to get my mom an actual Mother's day gift. Hopefully getting rid of a potentially dangerous tree will suffice. Yeah. >_>

In other news, I'm spending some quality time with a handful of DS titles. Some, such as Tetris DS and Bleach DS, rock pretty damned hard. Others haven't fared so well. Case in point, Tenchu DS:

Xenosaga I & II isn't much better, either. Imagine all of the cool graphics and cutscenes from the PS2 versions, toned down into 2D sprites with a 3/4 camera angle, and you've got this game. And if you think the lengthy cutscenes were horrible in the console version, imagine how bad they are when you have to deal with the DS's limited battery supply. At least the combat system hasn't been changed too much.

Another games that springs to mind is Iron Feather, a DS game from Konami that bears a strking resemblance to Boktai series on the GBA. It's got wonderfully fast-paced real-time battles, but the whole thing looks a little too retro to me. The map graphics on the top screen looks like something out of a crappy Atari 2600 game, and the bottom screen is barely passable for SNES standards. Bleh. The magic summoning is done via the touch screen, where you have to draw certain lines to cast spells a la Tao's Dungeon or Lost Magic. All things considered, it could be worse. ****ing Tenchu DS.

Ummm . . . I got my mom some flowers. This was after I was forbidden to order her gift off amazon because the book I got her for her birthday made her cry.

Several years ago, lightening struck a giant tulip tree in my backyard. The tree survived, but the core of it was dying. After it had been in this state for a good amount of time, I took the initiative to start a fire within the tree. Smoke bellowed out of its orifaces as if they were chimneys. The tree was now royally screwed. My dad had to cut it down. He wasn't too pleased.

Usurper, that is the coolest sounding thing I've heard all day. I'm so setting the inside of a tree on fire before I die.

Link might just come out of Hyrule and kill you all. Unfortunately, he will lose all of his stuff at the beginning of the game... And yes, Xenosaga I & II sucks. And Xenosaga III will probably suck too. Sigh...
