I quit smoking and have made it 13 days without a cigarette. In these two weeks I have become a hermit and have been avoiding things like going to bars and driving as much as possible. I've had a lot of time to play Mario Galaxy though. That is a plus.

I knew a guy who smoked when he was younger. By the time I knew him, he was in his late 60s and his voice box had been removed. He communicated using some mechanical device that made him sound like a (mostly unintelligible) robot. He was a pretty nice guy, and at the time my parents used him as the poster child for reasons I shouldn't smoke.

Not that I can smoke, anyway. Even outdoors, if I get too close to someone who is smoking--usually about 15 or 20 feet--my throat constricts and I start coughing. I'm extremely sensitive to it now, though I wasn't as a kid for some reason. If someone was smoking outdoors somewhere a few minutes earlier and I walk by, I can tell even though I can't see the smoke in the air because I'll start coughing.

If cigarettes ever become illegal, the police will use me as a cigarette sniffer, I think.
