someone who talks over a game for only one video is now a Let's Play One Off, a person who talks over a game they didn't play is a Let's Watch, and videos where no one is talking is either now called a Long Play or HAS to be labeled with "No Commentary".
Wendell B @pickhut11:07 AM
The one thing I really dislike about Let's Plays is how much it seems to have a grasp on video terminology now. Basically every video where someone talks over a game falls under the "Let's Play" category in a lot of people's eyes:
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyer01:10 AM
@jerec @joseph_valencia @honestgamer You guys also forgot forced humor. Plenty of that going around.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyer01:09 AM
@jerec 45 years and counting!
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 20, 2014
@pickhut important game of all time.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 20, 2014
@pickhut Ugh, that guy. I don't blame him for being pissed off, because I sure as hell would be if 99% of the internet were constantly trolling me, but I he needs to get over himself. "You don't deserve Fez 2." Oh noooooo! 'Cause Fez 1 was the most...
Wendell B @pickhutAug 19, 2014
You know, Phil Fish should consider a career in horror movies, because he has this amazing ability for showing up out of nowhere and shouting stuff when you least expect it.
Wendell B @pickhutAug 19, 2014
Have you ever had that moment where it felt like you played a game 6/12 months ago, but it turned out to be more than that? I was just looking through my achievement lists on my Xbox 360, and the "Last played" dates are blowing my mind.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 19, 2014
@honestgamer @espiga @jerec I have noticed that there's a growing number of people who leave comments on articles on Facebook saying, "Ugh, you didn't say it was a video! I can read, you know!"
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 19, 2014
@jerec @espiga I've thought about starting a Twitch account. I dunno, I tend to be more of an article type person than a video one.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 19, 2014
@jerec The closest we've had to that brought on endless waves of whining. I'm not sure we can withstand another attack like that.
Wendell B @pickhutAug 17, 2014
So, yeah, went back to playing V2 for a bit after a week with 3, and immediately I could tell: V2 is easily the better game.
Wendell B @pickhutAug 16, 2014
@pickhut I guess it goes without saying, and I'd hate to say it after the fun I had with the game, but don't get Sniper Elite III on the 360/PS3 in its current state. It doesn't seem to be a problem with the PS4/One consoles, but don't take my word on it.
Wendell B @pickhutAug 16, 2014
@pickhut Well.... at least I completed the game before this happened. And I kinda don't want to delete saved data. Guess I'll play V2 instead. >_>
Wendell B @pickhutAug 16, 2014
Sniper Elite III: So today I found out I can't play this game anymore because it freezes at the title screen while loading data. I checked online for fixes, and apparently, this is an issue lots of people are having that hasn't been patched yet.
Wendell B @pickhutAug 15, 2014
Sniper Elite III: beat the campaign mode. The last level was weird. It almost felt like an amalgamation of things I've seen in various media over the last few decades.
Wendell B @pickhutAug 15, 2014
Sniper Elite III: completed the 7th mission, and the game has grown on me despite its flaws. I dunno yet if it's as good as V2. I need to think long and hard about that.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 14, 2014
@EmP Still sounda better than what the franchise has been doing.
Wendell B @pickhutAug 13, 2014
Sniper Elite III: it's a bigger beast and has some interesting improvements over its immediate predecessor, but its glaring flaws are doing a wonderful job at making 3 inferior to V2. I'm still enjoying myself, but they really needed to fix some things...
Wendell B @pickhutAug 13, 2014
@pickhut Finished the third level, and it had to be the most unintentionally comical playthrough I've had in the entire Sniper Elite series. The bugs and the obsessive use of bloom made it a B Movie experience.
Wendell B @pickhutAug 13, 2014
@honestgamer @EmP I'm sure he's getting the vapors and tweeting Kojima right now for more scenes of sexy CGI Norman Reedus.
Wendell B @pickhutAug 12, 2014
@pickhut Okay, just completed the second level, and the radar isn't as bad as I thought. Though, I've noticed an almost ironic dilemma I'm having with this game compared to... well, I'll save that for the review if I write one.
Wendell B @pickhutAug 12, 2014
Sniper Elite III: I was aware this game included a mini-radar in the corner of the screen. I was unaware that you can't get rid of it...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 12, 2014
I got to the final stage on Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel. I may have had all I can stand. Review forthcoming, some day.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 12, 2014
@honestgamer According to what I've read, Zero is a spin-off of Aero (apparently they're rivals or something like that), so that might be why. I'm not sure about Aero, but Virtual Console isn't missing much without Zero...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 12, 2014
So far, Zero is not especially good. It's pretty much a standard animal-themed platformer with slightly irritating jump mechanics, made worse by its reliance on special maneuvers that you would most likely only know about if you read the manual.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 12, 2014
It also came to my attention that I've only reviewed on Sega Genesis game here. I aim to remedy that. I've compiled a list of games to play and eventually review. I tore into Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel a few minutes ago, and made it to a fire stage.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 12, 2014
I decided that since I'm more than 25% of the way through my text that I'd take some time to game and blow off some steam. Unfortunately, I'm not picking up Walking Dead right away, because I don't want to re-hook myself on that while studying.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 09, 2014
Gaming progress- Nil. Studying progress- Five chapters down, eighteen to go. I discovered that I need to memorize about a dozen different regulatory and voluntary standard-driven agencies, from FDA to Joint Commission. Bleh...
Wendell B @pickhutAug 09, 2014
@honestgamer Well, he didn't direct the film, but the movie was full of his signature styles of directing that I can't help but believe he ghost-directed it to some degree. Or ghost-edited.
Wendell B @pickhutAug 08, 2014
@pickhut , but my biggest two complaints is how it kinda felt short and that the exposition dragged a little. Yes, I'm saying a Michael Bay-produced movie had too much plot...
Wendell B @pickhutAug 08, 2014
Just saw the new TMNT movie, minor thoughts: Other than some "????" moments, it wasn't offensively bad. Wasn't great, but I was expecting a wreck, so I was coming in low. The turtles were fun together, Megan Fox didn't feel intrusive or annoying, (cont.)
Wendell B @pickhutAug 08, 2014
@honestgamer Heh, at least you got the job! When I interviewed a few years back for a company I used to work at, the interviewer clearly didn't want to hire me because I've been away for, like... only a year.
Wendell B @pickhutAug 07, 2014
So I think I just saw the oddest Xbox One commercial where a Rocky VI voice sample is played over a montage of video games.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 07, 2014
Gaming progress = None. Studying progress = survived four grueling chapters of information I already know, for the most part.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 04, 2014
I also got hit with the "Invisible Duck" glitch, where Katjaa is basically sitting there cradling nothing. Thankfully, it didn't last long, as I think it would have ruined a major scene in this episode.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 04, 2014
Finished The Walking Dead 1.3, and I'm calling it a night. That's... enough feels for one session.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 03, 2014
Walking Dead 1.3- Completed my first difficult choice of the episode and successfully raided the pharmacy.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 03, 2014
Completed The Walking Dead 1.2. Man, I feel like a piece of crap after that. I'll probably start 1.3 tonight.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 03, 2014
Walking Dead 1.2- Just had the big reveal, and I called it. Then again, I've seen my share of horror movies with creepy rural families who are hiding something.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerAug 02, 2014
Walking Dead 1.2- About to head to the bandit camp, but I've got to click on the dots around the farm first.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 31, 2014
@zippdementia I thought for sure that I'd find that game pretentious, but I really enjoyed it.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 31, 2014
@JoeTheDestroyer I'm a short way into 1.2, about to head to the dairy farm.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 31, 2014
The Walking Dead- Completed 1.1. It seems I picked the less popular choices during decision making sections of the episode.
Wendell B @pickhutJul 29, 2014
Currently Wanting to Play: Sniper Elite III. Was raring to go after beating V2, but busy things unrelated to video games is keeping me away for 2 weeks. <__>
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 29, 2014
I've been tempted to replay and review Robotrek, a game I enjoyed in my teen years, but I'm afraid it hasn't aged well.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 29, 2014
@wolfqueen001 @zippdementia @Germ @EmP They basically said that Raiden was an allegory for the player, and they way they described the theory made the game sound like a subtle satire on video game hype.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 29, 2014
@wolfqueen001 @zippdementia @Germ @EmP I ultimately didn't hate MGS 2. There was also someone here who had a really good theory regarding MGS 2 that helped me appreciate it a little more (I want to say it was Espiga, but I have a feeling ti was Calvin)...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 29, 2014
@Ben I'm looking forward to it! I love to read reviews that take popular games down a peg, or defend awful unpopular ones.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 28, 2014
Walking Dead 1.1- About to leave the drugstore to save someone. So far, I dig this game. That's saying a lot, since I usually don't have the patience for graphic adventure games (although I've always wanted the patience).
