FEAR: Perseus Mandate- Well into Interval 3. This one's been pretty wild, but light on the scares. I appreciate the mix of foes. Oh, and the crazy scene I'm currently one where you try to run away from a mech in a network of offices.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 21, 2014
FEAR: Perseus Mandate- On the second segment of Interval 2. So far, I'm digging this one as much as Extraction Point. I only hope this one utilizes the series' horror elements as well as the previous expansion did.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 20, 2014
@honestgamer I don't mind recycling, assuming what they're recycling is quality and will allow other gamers to experience it (as is the case with Origins).
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 20, 2014
Started Sang-Froid: Tales of Werewolves. Apart from the voice acting, it seems like it'll be a helluva game. I dig the combat system and atmosphere, and I'm actually quite fond of the strategy elements they've added to it. At least so far...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 20, 2014
Beat Silent Hill: Book of Memories. I wouldn't say that I'm opposed to the idea of a Silent Hill-inspired dungeon crawler, but at very least make it feel like something more than a standard DC with Silent Hill trappings.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 19, 2014
I wanted to finish Book of Memories tonight, after writing a review, but I don't think I have it in me. Bedtime...
Wendell B @pickhutApr 18, 2014
@JoeTheDestroyer @Suskie I do, too. Even though I rarely reply to others' progress posts (because I really have nothing to add), I still read them. I'm curious to see your views on Ground Zeroes.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 18, 2014
Silent Hill: Book of Memories- I've begun the final dungeon theme (Zones 19-21). I should be hitting the final boss soon. Thankfully...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 18, 2014
@Suskie Eh, I like reading other people's progress. It's interesting to see what others are playing.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 17, 2014
@overdrive @EmP @honestgamer I liked Ys III back in the day, even though some of the boss battles were annoying. I don't think I'd enjoy it much these days.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 17, 2014
Beat Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime. Guh... 9 tedious, repetitive levels, one super challenging stage (mostly because your allies are dumb), a boss rush level, and a surprisingly easy final boss battle. After all that I feel empty inside.
Wendell B @pickhutApr 17, 2014
Game Progress - I'm slowly writing up my PowerSlave review for no good reason. Guess I just wanna take my time. I also purchased a cheap copy of GunGriffon II, which I wanted for awhile now. However, when it arrived, it was just the first GG game. D'oh...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 15, 2014
I hope to submit my Alleyway review tomorrow night. I would do it tonight, except that I'm exhausted from work and all I want to do is watch some bad horror movies on Netflix.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 14, 2014
rookies that were created for the game. Why the hell would they trust a quartet of unsupervised newbies with frickin' proton packs? Hell, why even bother with newbies? Who thought that was a great idea?
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 14, 2014
Make that level 9. I've burned through most of the game in one sitting. That's impressive, considering how vapid the game is. The worst part is you don't even get to play as the actual Ghostbusters (or even the Extreme Ghostbusters), but a bunch of...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 14, 2014
Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime- Completed level 3. Yes, it's true. This shovelware has no dick.
Wendell B @pickhutApr 13, 2014
PowerSlave - Completed Kilmatt Colony, which is a dreadful experience because of all the one-hit kill laser traps littered everywhere. However, if you know how to bomb jump, you can skip 90% of the stage... I dunno why I didn't do this the first try.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 13, 2014
I only wish GOG had an app similar to Steam and Desura...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 13, 2014
I recently discovered/remembered that I have a GOG account with the first three Alone in the Dark games in my library. I've always wanted to play those!
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 13, 2014
I don't frequent the site Rock, Paper, Shotgun, but can someone tell me what the difference is between a review and "Wot I Think"?
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 13, 2014
@honestgamer I liked 10, but not at first. I didn't actually discover that I enjoyed it until I finished it. I'm not big on 7, but I don't dislike it. I keep picking it up and putting it down.
Wendell B @pickhutApr 12, 2014
PowerSlave - Reached the Sunken Palace, an underwater dungeon. I managed to narrowly avoid drowning until I reached a room that begins locking up when you grab a door key. There's no unlock and no way of knowing this the first time... so yeah.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 12, 2014
I think I may attempt to pick up where I left off on Mega Man 7. I've defeated all of the robot masters, but I had a difficult time with Proto Man, and shelved the game because of it. I think with enough practice that I may be able to defeat him.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 12, 2014
Started both FEAR: Perseus Mandate and Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime. The latter is pretty much licensed shovelware thus far. The cutscenes between levels are terrible, displayed in difficult to read comic format.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 12, 2014
FEAR: Extraction Point- Finished it. I only have a few complaints this time around, mainly that the AI isn't as good as in the main campaign. Enemies really suck at throwing grenades in EP, and end up killing themselves sometimes.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 12, 2014
Silent Hill: Book of Memories- Defeated Earth Guardian and found the save point in Zone 16. It's dumb that the bosses have such generic names as Earth Guardian and Wood Guardian. It's like no one's trying anymore.
Wendell B @pickhutApr 11, 2014
Powerslave - Reached the Cave of Peril, and it definitely lives up to its name with all the platform jumping over pits, lava, and acid. Got a good ways into the map until a badly-timed jump sent me burning and back to the start of the cave.
Wendell B @pickhutApr 11, 2014
@honestgamer @Germ I only played the first 3D NG game back on Xbox myself. Still don't understand why people thought it was SUPER hard... I just did a lot of rolling and blocking >_>. Still a challenge, though. I have NG2 on 360, but I never played it.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 11, 2014
FEAR: Extraction Point- Reached Interval 4, then dealt with two massive power armors in a row. Thankfully, I've since restocked my ammo and found a particle rifle. Mwahahahahaha!
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 11, 2014
@Suskie @Ben You should totally review KOTOR.
Wendell B @pickhutApr 11, 2014
@pickhut there's a very hard to see corridor in the bottom corner of a water section. I like this game, but man, that map sucks.
Wendell B @pickhutApr 11, 2014
Powerslave progress - the Amun Mines has to be the most confusing map I've encountered in this game. I got stuck, wandered around, restarted the map, and wandered around again before giving in to watching a YT clip of the area. Turns out,
Wendell B @pickhutApr 10, 2014
@EmP Yeah. I actually got the game at the end of November, but it was put on the back burner during the holidays.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 10, 2014
Silent Hill: Book of Memories- Started Zone 15 and completed the extracurricular escort mission, netting me a lousy artifact that I'll sell when I find a shop.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 10, 2014
@Ben I reviewed Chrono Trigger and Symphony of the Night. Both of those are in my top three. I'm not sure which game I would pick for the #3 slot, though.
Wendell B @pickhutApr 10, 2014
So on EmP's recommendation... 5 months ago... I started a play of PowerSlave last night. Looks pretty for a Saturn game. Having to fight only cute red spiders and birds for the first hour was questionable, though. >_>
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 09, 2014
@honestgamer I've noticed, especially with the first generation of games. I will say, though, that I did like Link's Awakening, Great Greed, and Gargoyle's Quest.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 08, 2014
I aim to start a new review for Alleyway soon. That would be yet another mediocre Game Boy game reviewed by a community member in a short span of time.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 08, 2014
@Germ @honestgamer I haven't had much interest in that one, for some reason. I wouldn't mind picking up the PS3 Katamari game, though.
Wendell B @pickhutApr 07, 2014
Oof... my equipment for recording on my older consoles kinda bugged out on me, so I spent almost 3 hours recording and editing together a 3 minute video for an upcoming review of a game that doesn't deserve it. x_X
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 07, 2014
@honestgamer @Germ I did just the opposite. I liked Damacy, but I sold it because Beautiful is basically the same thing. I really enjoyed We Love, though.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 07, 2014
FEAR: Extraction Point- Partway through Interval 3, having nearly been killed by a couple of mechs along the way.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 07, 2014
@Germ I don't think I would award the first one any higher than 8 myself. We Love Katamari, on the other hand...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 06, 2014
FEAR: Extraction Point- Picked it back up and made it to Interval 2. I think I'm enjoying it more than FEAR's main campaign, mostly because its horror elements feel more realized.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 06, 2014
they were expecting the Steam community to pick up their slack.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 06, 2014
I've also been playing a bit of Goat Simulator lately. I'm not sure how I'd rate this one. I mean, I expected it to be pretty bad in terms of convention, so I'm disappointed there. What annoys me is the lack of content from the developer. It seems like..
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 05, 2014
intelligence stat is too low, then you can't see traps. I've died more times than I can count because I couldn't see a poison trap.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 05, 2014
Silent Hill: Book of Memories- Currently in Zone 12. The game introduced poison traps recently, which temporarily drop your HP to 1. Endure the time limit and you'll get your life back, but take a single shot and it's lights out. Worse, if your...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerApr 05, 2014
I've come to the conclusion that Silent Hill: Book of Memories is a good idea bogged down by a lot of bothersome ideas.
Wendell B @pickhutApr 04, 2014
@zippdementia Not much action on the main map? That's odd, I wonder if activity has died down since release. Though, usually, you'll find most of the players screwing around in the city and the small town in the desert. Everywhere else is rare.
