I killed a demon and swiped its claws. Now I just need to find one more unique item and I obtain a one-of-a-kind armor breastplate.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyer04:18 AM
Geneforge 2- As luck would have it, I was right: I was on the verge of becoming powered up. Thanks to that, I've plowed through several troublesome areas, mostly thanks to a special weapon and some great pieces of armor Iv'e found. Most recently...

been bumped up considerably, which has led to several impasses and has pretty much stifled progress. Either I'm really close to becoming overpowered or I'm going to struggle throughout the rest of the game.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyer06:23 AM
Geneforge 2- ...is now growing tiresome. A lot of the levels seem to be nothing more than padding without much reward. The first one was a bit like this, too, but you received fair rewards more often than not. Also, the difficulty rating has...

Road Not Taken- I think I made it to Year 4 before dying (permadeath here too). I'm not sure how I feel about the game so far. It's an interesting mix of roguelike and puzzler, but bad luck can often ruin a session.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyer06:21 AM
Dungeonmans- Having put a fair amount of time into this one, I think it's time to review it.

@pickhut Tried TCM for 20 minutes, and I could barely stand playing it. Then the game broke and relaunched my 3DS again. I'm actually fearing for the safety of my handheld...

I'm actually thinking about writing about Tokyo Crash Mobs after reading up on some tidbits that would make for an interesting review (I hope), but this would require playing more of Tokyo Crash Mobs. Gah.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 15, 2014
Dungeonmans- I usually hate perma-death in almost any game. Dungeonmans handles it excellently.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 14, 2014
I decided to start a "quick" game of Dungeonmans, maybe around fifteen minutes. I ended up playing nearly two hours. So much for getting more reviews done. At least I have a rough for Metrocide.
Wendell B @pickhutDec 13, 2014
I read that After Burner Climax is going to be delisted for the 360/PS3 on Dec. 24th, so there's ten-ish days to download it if any of you were thinking about it!
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 13, 2014
@honestgamer And leave the listing up for Road Not Taken. I may just purchase that and review it anyway (not before taking on Dungeonmans, of course).
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 13, 2014
@honestgamer That works, thanks!
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 13, 2014
@zippdementia @joseph_valencia @overdrive Yeah, the static sprites were pretty cool, too, especially when fighting bosses. I kinda thought it was neat that there's basically a finite number of battles in the game, too.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 13, 2014
@honestgamer I can take it after I review Metrocide, which shouldn't take much longer.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 13, 2014
Phew. I passed the first of three levels in Metrocide. Unlocking the silenced shotgun helps a lot. Sadly, the game still repeatedly crashes, which has prevented me from success on several occasions.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 12, 2014
I've come to the conclusion that Metrocide mostly boils down to luck. You could be owning that game hard, then get killed because a police drone happened to spawn at the wrong time. It's happened to me more times than I'd care to count.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 12, 2014
@zippdementia @joseph_valencia @overdrive I do like FFMQ's music quite a bit. Otherwise, it's a pretty dull RPG. I think it was intended to be for beginners.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 12, 2014
@joseph_valencia @overdrive Or because you were unfortunate enough to rent it.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 12, 2014
Worse: One-hit kill, perma-death, almost can't avoid enemy projectiles. The only way to prevent yourself from being shot by, say, a vigilante is to shoot the vig first and hope there were no witnesses. If there were, then shoot them too.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 12, 2014
I've been getting into the game Metrocide for the last couple of days. I finally learned how to get somewhere on the first level, and then the game crashed. Bear in mind that you can't save mid-session, so I lost all of my progress.
Wendell B @pickhutDec 12, 2014
@pickhut And now the game forced my 3DS to restart due to an unknown error, the first time that's ever happened. Man, this game sucks.
Wendell B @pickhutDec 12, 2014
Tokyo Crash Mobs: this... this game is legitimately making me upset. It's basically Ballistic with a weird, FMV-esque slant. I thought it would be weird in a funny way, but certain mechanics and jokes are just outright angering me due to their stupidity.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 11, 2014
@EmP @zippdementia @overdrive @Suskie Then I nominate Fester's Quest.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 11, 2014
@zippdementia @overdrive @EmP @Suskie Yeah, Krusty's Fun House is pretty blah, too. I would have to second that one.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 10, 2014
@EmP @Suskie Zunou Senkan Galg. Suffer with us!
Wendell B @pickhutDec 09, 2014
@zippdementia Yup. Just found it funny how well the final unscripted seconds of the battle made the following cutscene all the more dramatic. Very enjoyable game.
Wendell B @pickhutDec 09, 2014
XCOM EU: Mannn, only one soldier survived the final mission, and I didn't even really like him. He didn't even do anything in the last section! My SHIV robot made the final, heroic shot when everything was going bad... and they left It behind! War sucks.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 08, 2014
That game makes me wish I had the money for a next gen console, at least from little I've seen of it.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 07, 2014
nifty new items, not to mention that I now have access to one of the main towns, Rising.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 07, 2014
.......which happened to be the armor I was already flipping wearing. I couldn't even sell it for a decent amount, nor did I gain XP for giving the quest giver the ingredients. On the plus side, I gained two levels in the process and nabbed some...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 07, 2014
I had a rough evening session with Geneforge 2, which was mostly my fault. I fought a bunch of tough battles and pushed through high-level-enemy-riddled territories to get some ingredients for a special piece of armor.....
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 07, 2014
@joseph_valencia @overdrive Glory of Heracles on DS maybe? I don't know, I only played a tiny bit of that one, but it didn't seem too bad.
Wendell B @pickhutDec 06, 2014
@pickhut @zippdementia @JoeTheDestroyer @EmP I THINK, though. The PC version is apparently standalone expansion, while the console versions supposedly has it attached to the original game. I have no clue about the iPad version.
Wendell B @pickhutDec 06, 2014
@zippdementia @JoeTheDestroyer @EmP 1.96 GB, according to its itunes page. Get Enemy Within, though, if you're purchasing, since it's the same game with added content. I... completely forgot about this pretty much right after I bought Enemy Unknown. >_<
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 06, 2014
going to end up gaining two or three levels just to have any sort of evolution beyond a jump in HP and MP. Thankfully, each level also gives me more creation points to work with, so I can either craft beefier servants or have a larger group of them.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 06, 2014
running afoul of powerful creatures. Bit by bit, I'm improving, mostly because I've been consistently leveling up, but I'm quickly approaching a point where I will require more skill points to boost stats than I receive per level. So basically, I'm...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 06, 2014
Geneforge 2 is back-asswards. Where most PC and W-RPGs have a rough start that leads in to an awesome middle, GF2 has a really simple start that leads into a rough middle. I'm currently at a point where I can't explore almost anywhere because I keep...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 06, 2014
@pickhut @EmP It's good to know I'm not the only one who suffers from that.
Wendell B @pickhutDec 06, 2014
@pickhut @EmP *alien. Stupid phone!
Wendell B @pickhutDec 06, 2014
@EmP Yeah, part of the fun I'm having with EU is seeing how far I can keep people alive. My current record is a guy surviving 30-some missions with around 50 alieb kills.
Wendell B @pickhutDec 05, 2014
XCOM EU: Easily lost my final experienced soldier to a 15-hit critical attack. Predictions: it's all uphill from here.
Wendell B @pickhutDec 05, 2014
@pickhut @overdrive I now currently just have one senior member in charge of a bunch of inexperienced soldiers. This should be interesting...
Wendell B @pickhutDec 05, 2014
@overdrive Yeah, I reloaded once early in the game when a similar thing happened when trying to rescue civilians for the first time. Since then, I just tried pressing forward regardless. As for now, I've decided to keep my post-massacred lineup. (cont.)
Wendell B @pickhutDec 05, 2014
XCOM EU: Well, after a dozen or so successful missions where no one on my team died, and literally right after I get my first psi soldiers, my entire squad is wiped out in the following mission. Must... resist urge... to reload game.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 04, 2014
@joseph_valencia @espiga I'm suddenly having visions of Tomas de Torquemada handing someone a Butterfinger Blizzard while he's in a rack, then thanking him for eating at DQ.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 03, 2014
@espiga @honestgamer @Suskie I know. I keep getting thrown off when someone says DQI.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 03, 2014
terms with the faction. I found armor there that was more than double what my current set was offering, not to mention new boots, a cloak, and close to a grand in coins. If only it had a better sword than the one I have...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerDec 03, 2014
Geneforge 2- I decided to take a risk and unlock a door next to a critical character, just to see if they would react. It led to some chambers loaded with improved equipment, goodies, and money. Even after ransacking the place, I'm still on good...
