@EmP @Masters @Ben Ha! I did the same thing during my playthrough. I kept saying, "WTF? How long until the next checkpoint?" It turned out that I had skipped a few steps.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 22, 2014
I just messed around a little bit with Hammerwatch. It's kinda like Gauntlet, but with a pretty good soundtrack.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 21, 2014
@EmP Some parts of that game can be pretty frustrating.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 21, 2014
Finished Fortune Summoners. The final boss was nothing special and pretty much felt like an ordinary boss, except that she could summon minions.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 21, 2014
Fortune Summoners- Gained access to the final dungeon, obtained the last of the Marks of Heroism, purchased Arche's ultimate weapon, and am now working on reaching the level cap with all three characters. It should all be over soon!
Wendell B @pickhutJul 21, 2014
Sniper Elite V2: The last DLC stage I played turned out to be a stage from the original game with some touches here and there. I... really don't know how to feel about replaying a stage, that was previously in a full game 7 years prior, as a paying stage.
Wendell B @pickhutJul 20, 2014
@joseph_valencia I wish he was that big enough to shoot... @True Yeah, I had the same luck. It's really bizarre how you're not allowed to actually go in town. Would have made for more creative kills...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 20, 2014
dungeon remaining. I think it's called Labyrinth of Night or something like that. I also only have three more Marks of Heroism to find, which would put the final level cap at 23.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 20, 2014
Fortune Summoners- Completed the first dungeon of Day 11, which ended with me finally receiving magical abilities (read: projectile attacks and a double-jump) for the protagonist. I have yet to advance the story much beyond that, but I only have one...
Wendell B @pickhutJul 20, 2014
@honestgamer That's a lot of HGs... It is pretty cool to have that level of info in the listings, doesn't even look bloated.
Wendell B @pickhutJul 20, 2014
@True Yup, the first time it was happening, I seriously thought the game was bugging out on me and screwing up his movements. Good thing I bought the game with the DLC included, because I would have been ticked if I downloaded the DLC and saw.... this.
Wendell B @pickhutJul 19, 2014
Sniper Elite V2: Yeesh, the Assassinate Hitler DLC is junk. He's ALWAYS hiding behind a huge object and never peeks out. The only chance you have of hitting him is when he's quickly running for new cover facing away from you. There's never a solid shot.
Wendell B @pickhutJul 19, 2014
Sniper Elite V2: I think I've died more times here than in the first game, but I'm still having more fun. Though, I think it has more to do with my refusal to whip out a machine gun when I really need to... It's just more satisfying sniping. xP
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 19, 2014
Fortune Summoners- Completed Day 10, which culminated in a pretty sweet boss battle against a humongous wyvern at the top of Weathervane Tower. I wasn't too impressed with this game early on, but I must say that it has grown on me.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 18, 2014
is also practically a death sentence, at least if the protagonist is affected anyway. She's strong enough that the other two don't stand a chance against her.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 18, 2014
Fortune Summoners- Partway through Weathervane Tower, which is kicking my rump. It's full of really strong harpies that can confuse the party and fully heal themselves. Never mind that fly around erratically and hard difficult to hit. Getting confused...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 18, 2014
@wolfqueen001 @honestgamer @EmP The second one is available on PS3, but I've heard it's the weaker of the two. It's pirate themed, though.
Wendell B @pickhutJul 18, 2014
@pickhut Snapping out from cover to snipe someone is such a hit/miss thing, too, since there's no cursor on screen pre-snap. You just have to guess and hope the scope is near the target. But the game is fun from what I played. Not GREAT, but fun.
Wendell B @pickhutJul 18, 2014
Sniper Elite V2: Much better than the first mechanically, but little things are bugging me, like crawling. You can crawl on any walkable surface in the first, but here it autos to crouching on stuff like stairs of any size.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 18, 2014
Fortune Summoners- Completed Day 9, and saved a short ways into 10. According to a fortune teller, I haven't missed a single Mark of Heroism (hidden items that boost the level cap by one--there are twenty in all).
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 17, 2014
@honestgamer @EmP I've got the first two on Steam, and I've bee meaning to play the first one for a long time. It always seemed like an RPG I'd enjoy.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 17, 2014
I have four games on Steam I want to try to get through after I complete Fortune Summoners: Hammerwatch, Risen (which I have already started), Gothic, and Geneforge 2. I feel it's time to scratch these titles off of my backlog!
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 17, 2014
Fortune Summoners- Entered a graveyard on Day 9 to discover the source of some unearthly moaning. ....Aaaaaand this is where our heroes accidentally stumble upon the introductory scene from Phantasm.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 15, 2014
Fortune Summoners- Finally completed Day 8 and saved at the beginning of 9. from what I can tell, I'm close to the end. I seem to remember reading that the game is divided into 11 days, but I'm sure each of the last three will take a few hours each.
Wendell B @pickhutJul 14, 2014
Sniper Elite: In an incredible display of awareness, I somehow failed to notice a loud truck filled with soldiers roll up right behind me and the person I was trying to protect. We died instantly. And I forgot to save. Clearly my finest hour.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 14, 2014
Fortune Summoners- Wrapped up my grind session and advanced the story, which ended with me saving a girl from a giant, talking scorpion. I should be approaching the next major dungeon soon.
Wendell B @pickhutJul 13, 2014
@pickhut Literally after I wrote that, I just got gunned down 30 yards away while having full health. x_X
Wendell B @pickhutJul 13, 2014
Sniper Elite: Might be one of those cases where playing on easy mode makes the game more enjoyable. The accuracy of soldiers firing with standard weapons at you from 30/40 yards away is ridiculous...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 13, 2014
I'm stuck in a situation right now where I can easily type up a rough draft, but I struggle to find time to edit it. I'm currently sitting on roughs for X-Men arcade and MirrorMoon EP.
Wendell B @pickhutJul 12, 2014
@pickhut Admittedly, it feels great to one hit kill a moving target from far away, but I wonder how long before it becomes repetitive.
Wendell B @pickhutJul 12, 2014
Sniper Elite: Way more actiony than I thought it would be. There's sneaking and, from what I've seen, very minimal stealth segments, but the rest is pretty much shoot at a distance while soldiers try to flank. It's usually unavoidable, too.
Wendell B @pickhutJul 12, 2014
Playing the first Sniper Elite for the first time and, after completing the first two missions, I honestly don't know if it wants to be a stealth or action game... It seems to want to do everything possible to make me fight a slew of enemies at a time.
Wendell B @pickhutJul 12, 2014
@pickhut Mongolia conveniently gains Networking, which narrowly puts them in the Tech lead, which in turn gave them the overall victory. To say I was butthurt would be an understatement. xD
Wendell B @pickhutJul 12, 2014
CivRev: I was pretty much guaranteed a victory in my Indian playthrough, as I was leading in all four categories, Dom/Tech/Money/Culture during the final five turns. Then, in the final action in the final turn of the game, (cont.)
Wendell B @pickhutJul 10, 2014
@pickhut going as smoothly as I wanted, so thankfully my Plan B Tech win kicked in before America could defeat me with a World Bank. That playthrough was stressful but fun.
Wendell B @pickhutJul 10, 2014
@pickhut Then I attacked his cities one by one with nonstop bombing attacks in an effort to slow his cash victory and obtain a dominant win for myself. Japan was annoying me too, so I wiped its two cities off the world. My battle with Abe wasn't (cont.)
Wendell B @pickhutJul 10, 2014
CivRev: America appeared for the first time as a "rival" during my England playthrough, and we were mostly peaceful until Lincoln aggressively aimed for an Economic win. So I did the logical thing: told him I hated him, then swiftly nuked a city. (cont)
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 10, 2014
Grinding has been kind of slow going in Fortune Summoners, but I was able to get my hands on a brand new bastard sword last night. That's one item down, four more to go. Sigh...
Wendell B @pickhutJul 09, 2014
with fighter planes and bombers. In dramatic fashion, my World Bank was completed just as Japan took a city, was ready to throw everything at my best city, and with literally one turn left to spare before the game ended...
Wendell B @pickhutJul 09, 2014
Civ Rev: FINALLY got an Economic victory with Spain after "losing" three previous playthroughs with Dominance/Tech wins. The AI just went absolutely nuts when my World Bank was close to completion, especially Japan, who started attacking my cities (cont.)
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 08, 2014
Fortune Summoners- Made it to Korat Village on Day 8, and discovered that I have to do a ton of grinding so I can afford new armor and an expensive (but worthwhile) new sword for Arche. Here we go again...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 08, 2014
@overdrive @Suskie @Never3ndr I'd say the chances of liking it are about 50-50 for me. I have had more than a few "Damn, Suskie was right" moments.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 08, 2014
Fortune Summoners- Partway through Day 8, wherein the game introduces the antagonist Dark Witch Selene. It's about freakin' time. Anyway, I defeated a sub-boss and have now amassed my first party of three characters.
Wendell B @pickhutJul 07, 2014
@honestgamer Xbox 360 port, the one that came out years ago. Yeah, I've heard they "quietly" released Revolution 2 on iOS recently, which I found to be odd. You'd think they advertise something like that more...
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 07, 2014
an anime, this would be one of the boring filler episodes that nearly everyone skips.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 07, 2014
Fortune Summoners- The candy wasn't a McGuffin. The only event that transpired that day was rushing to a far off city so I could trade a tart for some candy. There was one dungeon involved in the interim and that was it. If Fortune Summoners were...
Wendell B @pickhutJul 06, 2014
@pickhut money win was out at this point. So I used my resources to quickly build a bigger ship a few turns later, which was estimated to reach Alpha Centauri on the EXACT year as Spain. In the end, I won the space race, but man, that was a close one...
Wendell B @pickhutJul 06, 2014
Civ Revolution: Was on my way to getting an Economic victory with France, until Spain suddenly gunned for a Technological win by launching every spaceship part in just two turns. The game was about to end in a few turns, too, so getting the (cont.)
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 06, 2014
I'm guessing the candy is a McGuffin. I'll probably bump into something more serious along the way.
Joseph Shaffer @JoeTheDestroyerJul 06, 2014
Fortune Summoners- At the start of Day 7, and my first objective is to travel to a somewhat distant town so I can buy cheap candy. =/
