@JoeTheDestroyer Even in my teen years, I felt it had chunks that were iffy (my friend had it), but it was still a lot of fun and I may have to revisit that one myself. I (somewhat) recently bought the cartridge in an eBay auction, for just that purpose.
Jason Venter @honestgamerJul 22, 2014
Game profile pages have now been updated to display three images, whenever three or more images are available in the database, instead of four. The image previews are now slightly larger, as well.
Jason Venter @honestgamerJul 22, 2014
I managed to secure multiple keys for the PC beta of The Crew, and I am downloading it myself right now. If anyone else is dying to play it and has a decent PC, lemme know. Details/requirements: http://thecrew-game.ubi.com/portal/en-us/beta/index.aspx

Updated the search results page so that it shows any relevant results in the shiny new format. Hopefully, that will make the page more useful and maybe also help people find games they didn't even know existed.
Jason Venter @honestgamerJul 20, 2014
I spent basically the whole day coding, around 15 hours or so, but the end result is one I'm happy with. Browsing game listings should be a bit more fun now, with some shiny new tools and a more vibrant interface.
Jason Venter @honestgamerJul 18, 2014
Someone on Twitter asked if we might be interested in posting a review for this game: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=231264151 I would encourage @overdrive to do it, but the game is PC only. Seems right up his alley...
Jason Venter @honestgamerJul 18, 2014
Feeling suddenly productive, I today added a BUNCH of listings for many of the console and handheld games hitting retail outlets during the next 4 months or so: http://www.honestgamers.com/upcoming.php
Jason Venter @honestgamerJul 18, 2014
I've enjoyed seeing second and even third opinions pop up for a few worthy games as of late. We now have three very distinct takes on Shovel Knight, and it's neat to see the Banner Saga discussion, as well. Reminds me of the good old days...
Jason Venter @honestgamerJul 17, 2014
If you're into point-and-click adventure games, it stands to reason that you might also be into making some of your own. There's a game coming that lets you do that: http://store.steampowered.com/app/300280
Jason Venter @honestgamerJul 17, 2014
@EmP @JoeTheDestroyer We're about two months from the release of Risen 3 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, so it's probably a good time to be getting into Risen. I have the second one on Steam, but haven't played it yet.
Jason Venter @honestgamerJul 13, 2014
@Germ I've never played Legend of Dragoon, but I own the digital version now so I guess there's less reason for that to remain the case. Well, aside from how busy I am these days...
Jason Venter @honestgamerJul 11, 2014
Legend of Dragoon is only $1 in today's PSN flash sale. Wild Arms 1/2, as well, and Twisted Metal: Black, among others: https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-us/flash-sale/cid=STORE-MSF77008-9_FLASHSALE2014
Jason Venter @honestgamerJul 09, 2014
@Ben The thing about the last set of levels is that it was basically everything I expected after years of playing games in that style: a remix of unique challenges that had come up to that point, and other stuff I won't spoil here.
Jason Venter @honestgamerJul 07, 2014
@pickhut I always wanted to try out the PS3 port, but Xbox 360 could work just as well. One of the two, anyway. I do like Civilization on PC, and I'm not opposed to a slightly dumbed down version. I look forward to more impressions from you!
Jason Venter @honestgamerJul 07, 2014
@pickhut You're playing the original Civ Revolution, right? Which version? I think there was a sequel just announced or released, but I haven't been following closely.
Jason Venter @honestgamerJul 05, 2014
I've saved as much of my old guide content as I can. A bunch of guide text is laid out, waiting for me to drop in screenshots and push the guides live on the site. I was hoping to do that with Ocarina of Time but I think I'd better just write a fresh one.
Jason Venter @honestgamerJul 02, 2014
SEGA announced today that Hatsune Miku: Project MIRAI Remix is coming to North America in 2015, for 3DS. I know a few people who should be pleased about that!
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 30, 2014
@Ben How is the ability to attack checkpoints a big draw for you. Those checkpoints are nice to have around, especially in later stages. I rarely clear a stage without dying at least a couple of times...
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 30, 2014
@Ben I do not know. Have you tried striking one with a downward shovel thrust? I'm writing a guide for the game and I'm not going to experiment with that until I've finished it. I'd hate to destroy one permanently!
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 26, 2014
@Never3ndr @overdrive I've been trying to avoid buying, because I never seem to play what I buy at such great prices. It has been easier to avoid buying this year, because I have no money!
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 25, 2014
@Ben @Suskie It was directed at NO ONE. I just noticed that as screens are submitted, they're often coming in batches of 2 or 3, which is exactly what the form previously requested, but no longer the ideal. So I was updating people. That's it, I promise.
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 25, 2014
If you are submitting screenshots for a game that hasn't had any submitted, please see if you can get 4 to 6 of them. 4 will ensure that images show on the game profile page, which is helpful to everyone. I plan to update text on the submission form...
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 22, 2014
@Ben I bought that and was going to write a guide for it, but getting the CMS up to snuff took weeks of tweaking and testing while I wrote or updated other guides, so now I don't know. Is the game as good as I hear?
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 22, 2014
There were some features I knew I should add to the site guides in the coming months, and today I got lucky and was able to add all of them. I'm very pleased to have all of that coding out of the way!
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 16, 2014
I could go into more detail on my Watch Dogs guide, but at this point, I'm ready to call it "done." It's a terrific resource for the game that I hope people find useful. I'll review the game soon... and work on other guides now. Busy, busy, busy!
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 14, 2014
@pickhut I have the game too, but haven't played it. I'm looking forward to it. I figure it'll be a lot of fun. Past Mario Golf games I've played were pretty great...
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 14, 2014
@Ben It is a security measure, and intentional. :-)
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 13, 2014
I made a special section of the forums to organize my effort to produce guides. It's available right here: http://www.honestgamers.com/forums/sections/97897/0.html It probably won't be all that active at first, but I'd love to be wrong, naturally!
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 13, 2014
@wolfqueen001 @JoeTheDestroyer Introducing new animals into a happy mix is always risky, especially with cats. i hope it works out for you!
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 12, 2014
@pickhut And I think that's part of what I'm saying. The goal is to help people find great games and avoid the bad ones, plus also to help them enjoy the good games they do find!
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 11, 2014
Today, talking to my wife, I found the most economic way to describe what HonestGamers is about: the celebration of video games. I hope that has been evident anyway, but now I have a more marketable name for it, maybe. Let's keep enjoying games together!
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 10, 2014
I do think it's pretty cool that as a side bonus, Bayonetta 2 will apparently include the first Bayonetta game. They'll both be playable on the same platform, which is IDEAL.
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 10, 2014
So, it sounds like Devil's Third will be a Wii U exclusive. Is this the game that finally forces you to buy one?! http://www.joystiq.com/2014/06/10/devils-third-coming-exclusively-to-wii-u/
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 08, 2014
I'm getting pretty close to actually being done with the Watch Dogs guide. Documenting everything takes so much time... I hope people find the result useful for a long while to come.
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 04, 2014
This Mario Kart video was posted to a Facebook group I am in, and it's hilarious (and all of the Internet by now) so I'm sharing it here too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpxDuNFBVj8
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 04, 2014
@jerec @zigfried It's early days and I've only had time to play through 50cc thus far (busy with other stuff), but so far? Mario Kart 8 is my favorite Mario Kart since Mario Kart 64. I definitely dig it!
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 03, 2014
I pushed the Watch Dogs guide live, now that it takes readers through the entire story campaign. I won't be grabbing as many screens for any coverage of the side stuff, which I plan to tackle next. Maybe I'll start tonight...
Jason Venter @honestgamerJun 02, 2014
I'm about to drop a bunch of great content on the site, starting here in a day or two. A guide and two or three reviews, all in short order. Been working on all of it for a while, and soon? Fruition!
Jason Venter @honestgamerMay 30, 2014
@Ben It's tempting to do such things, but if the point you're making is that rhyming writing is irritating, you can make it with a couple of rhyming sentences, I think...
Jason Venter @honestgamerMay 30, 2014
@Ben For my match-3 needs, I've been addicted to Marvel Puzzle Quest after I grabbed some screenshots to accompany the review we recently(ish) posted on this site. The review made it sound good, and it turns out... it is!
Jason Venter @honestgamerMay 29, 2014
@Ben Looks like I have the first Audiosurf in my collection, though I don't remember buying it. I'm sure it was part of a Humble Bundle... The name makes me think of Amplitude. Is it anything like that?
Jason Venter @honestgamerMay 28, 2014
@JoeTheDestroyer I bet you'd be less indifferent to Puddle if you found it waiting on the bathroom floor when you got up to use the toilet in the dark, in the middle of the night.
Jason Venter @honestgamerMay 28, 2014
@espiga What system is that for, PS3? If so, that's kind of unusual: releasing a game on a system, then significantly reworking it and releasing it on the same hardware. It's not like Wild Arms: Alter Code F, which at least waited a generation...
Jason Venter @honestgamerMay 27, 2014
@espiga Maybe someday, but the count on the front page is accurate for its purposes. If I change anything, it will be to edit numerous pages in HG Chatter itself, which is tedious and not near the top of any theoretical list of priorities at the moment.
Jason Venter @honestgamerMay 27, 2014
@wolfqueen001 Guides are back, but significantly reworked. They're only produced on assignment now, using a custom CMS that I built. They're going to be much less frequent but also (I hope) much more awesome and also exclusive to HonestGamers.
Jason Venter @honestgamerMay 27, 2014
@jerec @Suskie The landing page might increase the number of new visitors slightly, and seems to have done so already, but that's not the primary motivation. The motivation is to offer everything people tend to dig through the site for, all on one page.
Jason Venter @honestgamerMay 27, 2014
Watch Dogs is supposed to show up tomorrow, and then I plan to get to work immediately on a guide that I will likely be updating for at least the next week or two. It's a great way to test how many people might be inclined to check out guides on the site.
Jason Venter @honestgamerMay 26, 2014
Since everyone feels that the ad on the front page is hard to miss, I figure we can use it to remind people how much fun they can have by joining the site. Hey, why not? We can always use fresh faces in our community, right? It's a call to action!
Jason Venter @honestgamerMay 26, 2014
@zippdementia @jerec The purpose of an ad isn't to be invisible. I had considered putting it below the guides, but its current position helps balance out the three-column design so it's not overwhelmingly uniform.
Jason Venter @honestgamerMay 26, 2014
@jerec I think you are being sarcastic, but anyway, here's an article you may find interesting: http://blog.kissmetrics.com/eye-tracking-studies/ The first thing most people will see is actually the selection of the newest reviews.
