I played a gig for friends on New Years Eve. I'm calling it 'The Ironing Board Sessions' for reasons obvious from this photo:
EDIT: Myspace BS prevents hotlinking, so to see it, you'll need to just go to my myspace, click 'pics', and look along a few photos:

My 1st real gig is on Jan.11 at the Excelsior Hotel in Sydney.

JANUS2 - January 04, 2009 (02:16 AM) I just put the itunes gift card I got for christmas to good use. Do you get a cut from itunes sales?? And how did you get your album on there in the first place? |

bloomer - January 04, 2009 (08:35 PM) I get a walloping good cut from itunes, so I would never discourage anyone from buying my album on there :) It's distributed as part of itunes plus, so the files have a higher encoding quality and are also DRM free. To get onto the various digital distributors, you need to go through an aggregator. Labels have different deals with the ag's, being indie I do it myself. For indie artists the best aggregator would easily appear to be TuneCore. I pay them annually to maintain my music on itunes, in turn I get all money when a person buys any. |

JANUS2 - January 05, 2009 (04:58 AM) So itunes is genuinely good for the independent artist? That's cool. Except I couldn't find your album by power searching, but maybe that's more to do with the differences between UK and AUS itunes stores. |

bloomer - January 05, 2009 (04:14 PM) I just had a look at the power search - it excludes itunes plus by default. I noticed I had to tick a box to include it. This is a bit weird as it's not just indies who are in itunes plus, if the thinking was to make 'big' music appear first (and which would be weird anyway, as surely an advanced search is for digging deeper, npt shallower?)... so anyway, that's my guess as to why you didn't see it in power search. |
