Title: a new Devil May Cry is in the works
Posted: September 15, 2010 (11:15 AM)
from Gamespot:

"While details on the game were scarce, Capcom described the new game--simply called DMC--as a "re-imagining" of the franchise, one that will feature a young Dante and his adventures from before the first game"

oh no another re-imagining!!!!!!! they could have named it Devil May Cry 5 and made it a prequel.....the trailer is awesome and so is the voice but i didnt like the new Dante.....

I remember hanging out with Rueben Langdon and Daniel Southworth. Cool guys.

So this is basically Capcom saying "DMC3 was really succesful, so, uh, let's do that again!"

DMC3 has been on my shelf and unplayed for years now. It is so legendary for its difficulty that I suspect I'll hit game over somewhere halfway to carrying it to my PS2.

Only the American version of the standard edition of DMC3 was considered "too hard" because Capcom completely screwed up he difficulty settings by making the default difficulty the Japanese version's Hard and kicking up all the difficulties from there. The problem is, Hard in the DMC series is meant to be played while retaining all your weapons and upgrades from a Normal playthrough. It stands to reason making you start from scratch on Hard is a bit unfair. You pretty much had to play it on Easy and if you were the type that needed Easy Automatic on the first game, you were pretty much screwed. The European version has the same difficulty settings as the original Japanese release after unanimous criticism over the American localization.

As for the new game, I will be happy if it plays like a Devil May Cry and doesn't involve recycling levels halfway through like DMC4. I don't know what to think about it being made by Ninja Theory.

And of course the version I ended up with is the American one. Given that I get my ass kicked by the original DMC fairly early in the game already, I think I did the right thing never opening that DMC3 box. Who knows what will come out.

Wasn't Bayonetta pretty much the successor/reboot the series needed since it was pretty much everything DMC4 wasn't? Of course, you goomers didn't buy Bayonetta, so now we'll have to settle for a goth-punk re-imagining by the guys who made Kung Fu Chaos. Excellent.

Not my fault they're releasing consoles faster than I can clear my backlog :P Still PS2-bound for the foreseeable future...

So you'd rather see Dante pole dancing?

I agree with Suskie. I'd even go so far as saying Bayonetta's on par with/better than DMC1, shame the PS3 version sucked a bit.

the best you can really hope for with the new DMC is another DMC3, decent game with a great combat engine. except now Dante is a queer from Detroit. beautiful.

I like queers. I don't really like Detroit, though.
