Title: one of the most stupid comment i have read
Posted: May 06, 2010 (03:13 AM)
"Normally, video games are a closed genre," Yamauchi told the finalists. "If you are good at a golf or soccer game, it does not mean you can be a pro golfer or soccer player, but Gran Turismo is different. If you are really good at Gran Turismo, you can be a really good race car driver."

If u are wondering who Yamauchi is, he is the CEO of Polyphony Digital and the above is by far one of the most stupid comments i have read by anyone....if u play Gran Turismo u can be a good driver......pffffffffffff whats next....Rockstar telling ppl that if u are really good at GTA, u can then be a really good car jacker, killer, drug dealer in real life....GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!

Thing is, Gran Turismo, and other racing games, teach you various techniques, like drifting, that you can then attempt in your own car (though you'd wanna be careful doing that). But you probably need to know how to drive a car already.

so if GT can teach us driving then a golf game or soccer game can teach us those sports too.....

Well, no. High as a level of football that I already play, I'm never going to learn to flick a ball over my own head with a heel flip volly just because I can hold in a shoulder trigger and nudge the right anolouge stick. I wish I could; it's driving me mad that I can't nail that trick.

I don't really thing the racing game example holds much merit. It might hold some water at a stretch, but I doubt it's anything noticable. If anything the only impression years of Burnout have caused me to have to resist the urge to streer into incoming traffic and flick through it. I doubt I'd last that long.

well yeah...thats what i said in the first place.....its stupid to think that games can teach us things we do in real life like driving or fighting or flying etc....sure they can teach us what actually drafting or drifting is or what playing the advantage means in football/soccer but thats about it i guess....
