so bought the game yesterday and i am in the Renaissance Era of my first game but have played enough to give some early impressions....
first off, i am afraid that the review on IGN is right about the sound....the sound of the game is a bit disappointing.....now u dont hear units utter something when u click on them, neither do u hear a sound when u complete a building as u did in Civ IV thus having to read as to what building you have completed, nor do u hear a 'pop' sound when a strategic resource is discovered in your empire, there are no fireworks nor any cheering when a city celebrates a "We Love Our Leader Day" .....the music is also very soft this time around and no video plays when you complete a Wonder, you only get to a still of the Wonder that u completed.....the diplomacy screen no longer tells u whether an AI leader is pleased with u or angry nor does his expressions show the status of the relationship....Civ V does away with a lot of things that Civ IV introduced which were quite helpful.....i wonder why.....
while you have heard the positives and thats exactly what the positives are......the game looks pretty, the hexagon playing grid, and everything else.....as a strategy game it is awesome but as a sequel Civilization V is a bit disappointing.....

WilltheGreat - September 27, 2010 (04:00 AM) Do you mean to say that you liked Civ 4 better than you like Civ 5? Because that's how I read your last line there. |
