Minish Cap and others round out list of 3DS Ambassador Games

The price of the 3DS dropped pretty fast, leaving some early adoptors cold. To help make things right, Nintendo promised twenty free downloadable games to anyone who bought their 3DS before the price drop. The first ten were NES games that were released relatively quickly: Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Zelda 2, Metroid, NES Open Tournament Golf, Yoshi, Donkey Kong Jr., Wrecking Crew, Ice Climber, and Balloon Fight.

The remaining ten games are Game Boy Advance games, which were said to be coming by the end of the year. Well, the end of the year is fast approaching, and it seems that they'll finally be released soon.

The first half of the list was already known: Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Wario Ware, Inc.: Mega Microgames, Metroid Fusion, Mario Kart: Super circuit, and Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island. Nintendo finally sent out a SpotPass message to Japanese and European 3DS owners listing the remaining five games, and they are F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, and Wario Land 4.

The SpotPass also claims the games will be released on Friday, though no list or date has been released for North America at this time. If things go the same way they did with the NES games, North America will be getting the exact same games, only the night before. It sounds like they'll work like GBA games do on a DS or DS Lite. That means there will be no multiplayer function or savestates, and no automatic sleep mode when you close your 3DS. (Many GBA games come with their own built in sleep modes, however.)

The biggest gift of all: from now on game news sites will be able to post 3DS-related articles without commenters asking about the Ambassador games.
