Fans and Developers Unite to Fix Uncharted 3's "Off" Aiming
Plenty of fans were complaining about Uncarted 3: Drake's Deception's aiming system when the game was released, but not a lot of them could really put into words exactly what the problem was. Aiming just felt "off" compared to Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
Well, in a sea of general internet complaining, a few well-reasoned and intelligent NeoGAF forum posts managed to float to the surface. Uncharted developer Naughty Dog went so far as to invite a few GAFfers to their headquarters to sit down and show them in person exactly what the problem was.
Through the power of teamwork between fans and developers and on-the-fly playtesting, the causes for the slightly off "feel" of aiming in Uncharted 3 when compared to Uncharted 2 have finally been identified and are being fixed. Naughty Dog is working on a patch that will add the ability to toggle between Uncharted 2 and 3-style aiming, as well as bring a few other undisclosed fixes.
It really is nice to hear about this kind of thing. Fans and developers working together to improve a game is good for everybody. And remember, it's thoughtful commentary, not hyperbolic shrieking, that brings positive change.
