Saints Row: The Third for PlayStation includes digital copy of Saints Row 2
If you've been thinking that you might pick up Saints Row: The Third and you're to the point of that process where you're pondering which edition to get, here's a little something that might tip the scales in one direction or another: Sony announced today that the promised exclusive content for the game's PlayStation 3 edition is a digital download of the previous game in the series.
Sony seems to have settled on the "free copy of the previous game" approach as a way to sell gamers on the PlayStation platform. Yesterday, Assassin's Creed: Revelations arrived in stores with a similar incentive (though the free game in that case is the first one in the series). It's a nice strategy to get people involved who may not relish the idea of buying two games just to catch up on things.
To take advantage of the promotion, you'll need to register your game ahead of February 13, 2012. That gives you around 90 days. If you already have the game and have already registered, you'll get more info on obtaining your download (valued at $19.99) early next week.
This probably has sealed the deal for me. I think I'm going to have to pick up Saints Row: The Third in the very near future.
