Desperate Kansas City thief fails to score a copy of Modern Warfare 3
Here's a story about Modern Warfare 3 where the good guy wins. You may already be sick of hearing about the game, what with it arriving in stores around 15 hours ago, but hearing about a dumb thief who got what's coming to him never gets old.
The events played out in Kansas City, Kansas. Picture a Gamestop store. At one such store, an excited gamer picked up his reserved copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and then drove home to his apartment. He must have looked like an easy mark, because as he pulled into his space and got out of his vehicle, a man who had followed him from the Gamestop parking lot pulled up and blocked the would-be victim from leaving.
That thief jumped out of the vehicle, brandishing a gun. He "racked a round" and then demanded that the surprised victim hand over the game.
"(Naughty word) you!" the intended victim responded. He'd gone through all the trouble of paying for his game, and picking it up from a crowded GameStop at 1 in the AM. He wasn't about to give up his prize.
So a struggle ensued, during which the aggressor racked another round in his gun that caused the first round to eject from the chamber. No shots were fired. Following the scuffle, the thief thought better of the attempted robbery and left the scene without actually obtaining the copy of the game that he had planned to seize.
The best part of the story, though, is that the victim called 9-1-1 and the responding officers were eventually able to track down the thief. It wasn't too hard, apparently; they found him standing in line back at the Gamestop, waiting to purchase a copy of the game that he'd attempted to steal.
