Sleeping Dogs getting Halloween-themed DLC
If you’ve ever dreamed of spin-kicking a zombie in the head, you can look forward to Halloween. No, you won’t need to ambush unsuspecting trick-or-treaters. Sleeping Dogs gets its first story-driven expansion on October 30th, and it’ll see the undead descend on Hong Kong.
Nightmare in North Point is a horror-themed DLC for Square-Enix’s sandbox title, apparently revolving around a zombified gang member hell-bent on revenge for his brutal death at the hands of the Triads. And we all know a zombie’s favourite method of recruitment. Standing in his way is Wei Shen, protagonist of Sleeping Dogs and proud owner of fists of fury.
If the idea of beating zombies to a bloody pulp doesn’t appeal to you, the DLC will also pit Wei against vampires known as Jiang Shi. We’re already anticipating some spectacular environment kills.
Games have long looked to the undead to spice up a franchise. Publisher Square-Enix will be hoping to find the same success as Yakuza: Dead Souls and Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare.
The price for Nightmare in North Point is yet to be revealed. Further Sleeping Dogs DLC packs are also due this month, offering up new races, vehicles, armour, and weapons. For Wei’s sake, let’s hope these include a stake and a flamethrower.
