3DS retail back catalog goes digital in Japan
Nintendo has announced, via Japanese Nintendo Direct, intentions to release some of the earlier 3DS retail games on the eShop.
As of November 1st, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Pilotwings Resort, Star Fox 64 3D, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Mario Tennis Open, Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, and Hana to Ikimorio Rittai Zukan will be available for download in Japan. These versions haven't been priced, but... you can probably expect them to match their MSRP's. So far, these releases have only been confirmed for Japan.
Bonus tidbit: Nintendo is working on an app to allow the transfer of save data from retail versions of games to their digital counterparts. That will be ready early next year.
