It's been a while since I picked up something and got so involved that it was the only thing I played for an extended period.

I first tried Dark Souls in 2011, when the game was fresh off the press. I liked the combat well enough, but had trouble with some of the mechanics and felt like I could not make any progress. I was doing next to no damage to the enemies I was fighting and died 5+ times within 15 minutes, this turned me off the game.

Fast forward to late June 2016, I have some experience with Bloodborne and take another crack at Dark Souls, this time I take a different route. I am now progressing, and enjoying all that I find. There is next to NO direction in this game, making it hard for newcomers to take on, much like Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link in my opinion.

Once I started making progress, I could not stop, over the course of two weeks I put over 70 hours into the game, playing after work and time permitting some before work. I have finished the game(with a little guidance when needed, never straight out reading a walk through) and started new game plus, now just goofing around a bit, setting my own goals, like getting at least 700 achievement score from the game.

Now having 705 achievement points in the game I am content with how much I gotten out the game and feel I can move to something else, but I'm not tired of the game yet either, I feel I could come back and finish new game plus later and continue to enjoy it.

I am excited to get to Dark Souls 3, but it's time to mix is up again!

Dark Souls is truly special, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's the best the series ever gets. That looks quite likely, actually, since a number of Souls fans that I know didn't much care for the second one and think that the third one is somewhat better but also quite forgettable. That first Dark Souls, though? Magical!

It was suggested I go from 1 to 3, skip 2 all together, which I will likely do, maybe go back later, but I've heard positive things on 3, so I'll likely do that sometime soon-ish lol

I still need to play this game. I've heard so much about it. Hopefully I'll get some more time over the summer...
