Title: Can I run Blu-rays on my laptop? Posted: June 09, 2010 (08:10 PM)
I was already fairly certain the answer is no, and then when I tried it, my laptop made a whiny noise and couldn't read it. So, case closed, right? But then I noticed this option for the default program settings in my control panel:
Okay, so my laptop is at least aware of Blu-rays, right? Does this mean running them is a possibility? Do I need the right program to do it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What kind of disc drive do you have? When did you buy the computer or disc drive? You can't play Blus with regular DVD drives.

That option is there so that you can configure your CD drive if ever you buy a blu-ray, so it doesn't just sit next to your computer looking shiny.

Yeah, I only have a regular DVD drive. That still makes me wonder why the option is even there if the computer can't run them...
