Title: March Mayhem (again). Posted: April 04, 2010 (06:01 PM)
Valve pulled ahead at the last minute and overtook Zynga, and as of now the voting is closed. And I'll admit that this turn of events caused me to breathe a slight sigh of relief, a salute to the (seemingly) thousands of FarmVille and Mafia Wars requests I've ignored. Though I'm less excited about Zynga losing and more excited about the final match-up:

Hey, nice! That's a very good match up and it's what you were hoping for besides!
I'll probably be rooting for Valve, because Half Life changed the way I look at games, but Bioware is another of my favorites...
... also, Bioware has a tendency to put out games a little faster than Valve these days, with arguably equal quality.

That's precisely the argument I'm using. I love Valve to death, but they're taking too fucking long to release Half-Life 2: Episode Three. And it's not even a full game; it's a third of one.

Valve won because their fans spammed the forums and in-games to get people to vote for them. Similar to what Zynga did, I guess.
I obviously want Valve to win since I haven't enjoyed a Bioware game since 2003 but I don't really care enough to vote haha. And about Episode 3: my guess is it isn't coming out at all, and we'll see Half-Life 3 in 2012 or so. Either that or Valve announces a new Orange Box type game this fall with Portal 2, but since it seems like Portal 2 will be a full length game this time around I'm not counting on it.

If I were voting, I'd go for Bioware.
I've never played more than two hours of Half-Life. I realise that this is probably criminal. I was pretty young at the time, and I was playing it at a friend's place, who was absolutely raving about it. For some reason, the game didn't grip me.

I now have this audio image of Gus Johnson calling the crazy late comeback as it came down to the wire.
