Two warnings about the Heavy Rain review I just submitted.

1. I used the term "gameplay" a couple of times.

2. It's a very long review. I had a lot to say about this game, and nobody else was saying it for me seeing as how there don't seem to be any other negative Heavy Rain reviews on the web. Though that's probably because most of the people to whom it wouldn't appeal had the common sense to stay away. I wasn't so smart.

By the way, Genj caught that I originally rated the game a 4. I dropped it one more to better reflect my review. My first score was more or less awarded out of pity since the story really does get good, though I wound up dropping it in light of everything the game does wrong. And it does many things wrong.

Edit: HOLY SHIT that was fast. Props to EmP on that one.

Didn't play the game,and like every review it's your opinion and that is all fine and good but I don't really agree with the way you described some of the parts, especially in the end with the "hoping it would turn my abhorrence for adventure games", which pretty much makes the entire review void for me,nullifying all that you said before, no matter how well it is written because if you have some sort of bias against the genre your opinions do not carry as much weight for it as they would if you didn't have such a mind set to start off to.

Yahtzee doesn't do jrpg reviews for instance(FFXIII being an exception because he was probably bugged too many times about it) because he said from the start he couldn't stand the genre so all it would amount for him would be to piss all over it, to name one of the better known reviewers on the internet.

I haven't played Heavy Rain but I don't know how it could really qualify as a graphic adventure (I'm assuming this is what Suskie & DE are referring to as "adventure game genre"). It looks more like an interactive movie with nothing but Quick Time Events and the occasional "decision" to change the story.

All fair points, DE, though if you insist on bringing up Yahtzee... well, he also took a chance on The World Ends with You specifically because he thought there was a chance he'd like it, and that's not the only time he's gambled on a genre he didn't like (Halo Wars being another example).

I'm glad you submitted it. It's important to have both sides weigh in on any video game.

Although I like Zelda 2 for the NES, I'm glad you wrote that review, and you did a fine job with it. I'm all for diversity.

Having diverse opinions can only help people who don't know much about the game make better educate decision. Gawd, that sounded corny, but you get what I'm saying.
