Question for HG staff.
December 13, 2009

I really, really hate my Mass Effect review. Not only do I consider it poorly written, but I don't feel I do justice to a game that would, at this point, easily land in my top five favorite games of all time. Unfortunately, I subbed the review during that short period of time I was on staff, and therefore I am unable to edit it.

So, my question is: Would I be able to do a Mass Effect rewrite? I can't do it right away (school runs until the end of the week and I still have a few other reviews to write at the moment, particularly Dragon Age), but I'd really like the opportunity come up with a better review for the game, especially considering it's my second-highest viewed and it's linked on GameRankings.

Thanks. Good day to you all.

The score cannot be changed. And I certainly don't endorse this becoming common practice. But since this is an unusual request from you, and if you have a rewrite that still matches the score -- I haven't even looked to see what you gave it -- then I don't see a problem with rewriting it, especially since any publicity that could have possibly been attached to the exact verbiage would have long since expired. It is definitely in the site's best interest to have the best possible coverage for any game out there.

Obviously, it would still have to be high-quality, subject to freelance approval guidelines, etc etc etc.

Scoring wouldn't be an issue. I gave it a 10 then, and I stand by that :)

This is probably the only time I'll make a request like this so I'm glad you're okay with it. Obviously I'm interesting in maintaining high quality here, so if my rewrite isn't a significant improvement over what's already posted, I'll be glad to know.
