There's going to be an American remake of Oldboy? Starring WILL SMITH?

HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN UNAWARE OF THIS?!

What the HELL, Hollywood? Why must you always come along and destroy foreign films that are fine as is and don't need to be remade? First Let the Right One In and now this? WHY DON'T YOU JUST FUCKING REMAKE THE HOST WHILE YOU'RE AT IT?!

Will Smith was terribly funny, clever, and new, until about the 5th season of "Fresh Prince of Bel Air."

I dunno. I like Will Smith, and he's starred in a lot of entertaining movies. Spielberg also stated that he has no intention of remaking the Korean version, which could ultimately amount to a final product that's "different but good". Sounds like the right approach to take with this material.

I have no problem with Will Smith. In fact, I rather like him, one of the better actors. Just the entire idea of the remake or whatever they are doing about the story pisses me off.

Just to be perfectly clear, Will Smith is a terrific actor. But he also has the reputation of being the most bankable star in the world, and that's not the sort of direction I want Oldboy to take.
