Game: Borderlands (Xbox 360)

The game play works incredibly well, but more polish on the more superficial aspects would have made this a game worth revisiting. It may have gotten the Game of the Year, but that was then; the GOTY edition with all of the DLC is affordable now and you’ll get a lot of hours out of it, sure. Game: Plants vs. Zombies (Xbox 360)

With neighbor Crazy Dave (who is obviously crazy because he has a pot for a hat) at your side to give you advice and yell gibberish at you, you’re off to guard your precious home by planting organic armies to do your bidding. You build up your reserves by gathering sunlight, which falls from the sky or pops out of immensely helpful sunflowers. Game: Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360)

Stealth is not important as you’d think. With a name like Assassin’s Creed, wouldn’t you expect the gameplay to revolve around sneaking around and killing your targets and getting out undetected? Of course you would! The brotherhood makes a big deal about not drawing attention, but you’ll find its borderline impossible NOT to draw attention. Most of the assassinations take place in crowded, guarded areas, full of frustrating gameplay mechanics like twitchy guards and troublemakers.

Game: Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (DS)

You just know that they have a story. I mean, they have to! There’s about a million of them! For every Goomba or similar cannon fodder video game bad guy that just puts on the uniform and goes to work, hating its life, there’s a guy like Rocket who I would suspect loves to go up against some knight trying to save the world from the Evil Lord So-and-So.
