The Plan: January
January 10, 2019

I came up with a ridiculous list recently, with a shitload of games on it that I had been... dabbling in. While it wasn't a New Years' resolution per se, new for 2019 is me not being quite so foolish. So here's what I'm playing and reviewing now, with only a few holdovers:

Double Cross - I was provided this to review. I'm 1.2 hours in, and I' pretty much done with it. I haven't gotten that far, but the limitations are what they are, and I have a strong sense as to what the game is all about. I'll review it this weekend hopefully.

Vision Soft Reset - I was provided this one to review as well. It's a quirky indie metroidvania that drops officially next Wednesday. I'm just under an hour in, and over the weekend I'll likely beat it and aim for the ever elusive DAY ONE REVIEW.

After the two commissioned projects, I'm still tinkering with these games -- none of which will receive a review:

The Walking Dead: The Final Season - Episode 2 has been out for awhile, but I just downloaded it last week. I'm tired of the formula in all honesty, but so far it's been semi-promising; I'll push through this because I already paid for the season up front.

Portal - I'm on the second last level, so when I get around to it, I'll beat it again and then let it rest.

Revenge of Shinobi - I'll try to save state my way through this on easy by the end of the month. Then: never again.

The Last Door: Season 2 - If there's one thing I hate, it's getting far in something, then forgetting about it so that when you inevitably return, you have to start over and everything feels like a chore (but if you don't, you don't know what the hell is going on). That's where I stand with TLD:S2, and I may just watch it play out on YouTube and be done with it.

That list definitely looks easier to manage. Did you have to get The Walking Dead on the Epic Games Store, then? I heard it's exclusive to that marketplace now. I haven't even looked into downloading the client, personally. I need another game client like I need a new hole in my head.

Ha, Emp told me about that Epic nonsense. No, I have it on my PS4, so no such issues. And being overwhelmed with gaming client options is second only in annoyance factor to being overwhelmed with streaming TV options. Let's cancel all Marvel Netflix shows in preparation for their eventual migration to our yet-to-be-launched Disney platform! Yay!

Right. With TV, you "cut the cord" and then you go to a streaming service. But the way streaming services are headed, it won't be long before you need 6 or 8 of them to see everything you want, and then they'll probably eventually be sold to us in bundles, and eventually we'll realize that we've gone right back to watching television. Or not watching, as the case may be.

Double Cross and Vision Soft Reset I'm done playing. I'll review both over the weekend, I hope. I beat Portal again last night, so that's that. The Last Door Season 2 will likely get YouTubed today and put to one side thereafter. I guess I'll give Revenge of Shinobi its last run tonight. And thus, the list is vanquished!

Marc in beats one game out of four shocker!

Double Cross looked like it could have been a lot of fun. Shame that didn't pan out

Beat Revenge of Shinobi and it was awesome! The issues I had the last time I tried it (with the double jump) must have been down to that particular emulation, because I didn't have any difficulties this time out.
