Ineresting. I will say that the sound quality this time around is much better. However, I will say that I think cutting them down might be a good idea. I mean, they're really long. Maybe if you just cut it down to 15-30 minutes a month.. or if you broke the hour long segment into like four 14 minute ones based on category or something, that'd be better, if more work, probably. Hm...
Haha. I couldn't actually tell that either of you were all that drunk. >_>
Anyway, a few points:
Whenever I think of games "cheating", it's usually in the sense like "WHAT?! HOW DID HE BUILD THIS SUPER UNIT AND STRUCTURE WAAAY BEFORE I COULD?", or "!!! I JUST TOOK 30000 DAMAGE!" Usually it seems to be issues of random probability and thus is more of a psychological construct where we think the game is cheating because, well, the game gets all the good luck. However, not quite sure if that's what the guy was talking about. He seemed to be raising more technical or program issues or something written into the game itself, which I've never actually heard of.
In your discussion of Rogue-like games, not sure if this was the more recent one you were talking about or not (missed that), but there is one called Net Hack that viridian_moon on this site reviewed (great review, too). That's the most recent one I can think of right now, outside of that Spelunky or whatever you mentioned.
There was something else I wanted to mention, but can't remember right now.
Anyway, sorry for not commenting on your last issue. I honeslty haven't had a whole lot of time to read through it (though I did read some interesting stuff). I also managed to listen to the podcast there, too.
I'm not sure if I'll sign up in the forums for your mag or not. I sort of prefer to just tell you things here since this is where I am all the time, but if you'd really rathre me give you this kind of feedback there, then I will.

It's funny - some people reckon it's too long, but we had a few people say last month's half-hour show was too short. 45 minutes to an hour seems to be the standard for this type of thing. Maybe what we could do in the future is publish a contents list with the times, so people could skip to the bits they thought interesting.
You don't have to sign up for the forum if you don't want, and you're not obliged to read every single issue :)
