Attack of the Germs
January 10, 2009

Oof. Today I have moved as far as getting out of bed and going to the sofa - and Mrs even brought the quilt for me.

I have the flu. I haven't had the flu since I was a kid. I'd forgotten how bloody horrible it is. Next time I get a cold, I'll probably barely notice it.

I feel dizzy every time I stand up, I have a coughing fit every few minutes, and my legs feel like they've just run a marathon.

UNPLEASANT. Off back to bed now x

WTF. Everyone in my city is getting sick, too. I'm hoping to avoid it by killing myself for a few days and being dead during the main attack.

Haven't figured out how to come back to life yet.

Come back as a zombie. Me, I'd go the route Rodney Dangerfield suggested in a movie (I think it was "Ladybugs") and would return as a lady's bicycle seat. Or something.

Hope you get better soon, Lewis. At least the Mrs. cares for you when you're sick. Mine mostly can't be bothered... which means it's a good thing I seldom get sick.

"Everyone in my city is getting sick too"

It's like Pathologic!

Yikes. That sucks. I haven't had the flu since I was like 10, and I never get it again. Hope you get better.

Aye, I must have been about that age too. Anyway, I've started to feel a little better this afternoon - I've managed to only go back to bed for a couple of hours today, which is a vast improvement on yesterday. I have exams starting on Thursday though, and really need to go into the library to study... hopefully by Tuesday I'll be healthy enough to have a two-day cramathon.

EDIT: Wait, "Hope you get better"?! That's a bit worrying... I didn't think there was that much chance of not making a full recovery... ;)

Haha. You know what I meant.

Anyway, that sucks that you have school to worry about with that. I'll tell you what I do when I'm sick, or used to get sick, since this will count for both cold and flu. I usually drown myself in tea, and pump enough Vitamin C to kill AIDS (gross exaggeration). Then there's this Theraflu or something stuff my mom used to give me to drink... which helped. Also Nyquil is God's agent for sleeping with a stuffy head or other sleep-depriving symptoms.

Though it sounds like you sleep enough, which is good.

I honestly don't know what I'd do if I got really sick again, though. Probably die with the backlog of work I'll have to catch up on.

I still think it's really funny that, in America, university is "school."

I haven't been to "school" since I was sixteen!
wolfqueen001 wolfqueen001 - January 12, 2009 (05:52 PM)
Haha. School's a universal term here meaning any level of education. I could differenttiate levels like my brother's in high school and I'm in college (technically university if you want to be strict about it), but that's complicating things needlessly. We like to be simple and blanket everything involving educational institutions as "school". Or at least I do.
Lewis Lewis - January 13, 2009 (01:52 AM)
It makes sense, to be honest, to have that blanket term. I think the only time it crosses over into British English is that we still have "film schools", but that's an American concept anyway.
