Title: Heavy Workload
Posted: January 18, 2008 (07:36 PM)
Wow, ok, so the last week has been crazily busy in my neck of the woods!
Forum updates, making contacts, advertising, new games to play, finding a job, building my computer, redesigning the site etc. etc...... Phew! Finally get a small break so figured I would update a little bit...Okay short and sweet that is my week.. The main thing has beendrinving me this week is getting Legacy Gaming out there in the scene but the side project that gives me relief? *gasp* A game... Well two really, FFX (replay) and MK Armageddon (Online).. Been getting my butt handed to me on MKO for the 2 hours that I have played it this week..more frustration... FFX I am almost done with again..thought I would replay just because...

Title: FFV Armageddon
Posted: January 12, 2008 (09:40 AM)
Okay, hitting two games kinda heavy at the moment..MK Armageddon and FFV...
I was never a totally hardcore fan of the older series of MK (Street Fighter FTW!) but the good ol' body exploding fatalities that produce more skulls than humanly possible tended to draw you in from time to time. I like Armageddon for the same reason as well the character creator being decent for what it is, and the Konquest is fairly fun too, my only complaint is the online. They could have done a better job with the battle system, just throw in like an auto match-up feature, but it is free so hey, I can dig it! :) I am currently working on getting everything unlocked and beating konquest mode. Should have that done in next couple of days, not that much to it really from what I can tell. FFV is a replay. I have not played it in about a year, but one of the gamers on the forums that I hang-out on kinda got me excited about playing it again. Anyway, I just got past the second crystal exploding and am working my way through the storyline. You sometimes forget how good the storylines are with the older games like this...only sometimes you forget, most of the time that shine pretty brightly in one's memory.

Title: Hawk fan for life! But then again...
Posted: January 08, 2008 (12:57 AM)
Saw the Skate ad on the front page and it got me thinkin...
I played the demo of skate up at GameStop the other day and it is pretty wicked..alot more control than the Hawk series... Proving Ground is good, it added a little more to the series...but my allegiance will lie with the Hawkman series for now...mainy for memories! Grinding was always the easiest part for me, and the funnest aside from playing as Freddy Krueger with double moon physics on! hehe classic...

Title: Persona
Posted: January 06, 2008 (09:43 AM)
Recently obtained a copy of Persona 2 and I havent played much into yet. But the little that I have played into it is pretty decent. Gives me of feel of a Diablo-engine run anime crime mystery. Which is a different change of pace for me. Maybe I will like it, I will report back in when I get at least halfway through it.
I also recently got a new AGP video card for my computer whenever I get it built. ATI Radeon X1300, seems pretty good for the price and it is supposed to have some serious power and shading capability. Can anyone recommend it?

Title: Tekken 5 Online
Posted: January 04, 2008 (10:20 AM)
A long time friend of mine came down to visit recently and brought his PS3 with him as well a downloaded copy of Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection, which was a great port of the arcade. Playing online is such an eye-opener to the notion of "there is always somebody better than you". lol
I got my butt handed to me by 3 different players within a 20 minute time period alone, though admittedly i have never been that great at Tekken to start with. But, just goes to show that world-wide the diversity of gamers everywhere is grand! We hooked up the PS3 through the DVI port on the back of the TV and i gotta say the clarity was awesome. We were gonna try the HDMI set-up but to no avail due to no HDMI on the back of the TV, fighting never looked so good, especially the girls. *drool*

Ah, a brand new year, brand new systems...I have made a resolution to have a PS3 by the end of Feb. lol Might sound silly as a resolution but truth be told, I have been trying to save up for one for about 3 months. But, i always end up spending the maoney that I have saved on somehitng frivalous like cards for magic online or some new armor for Guild Wars. So, this time I am goin' all the way baby! Happy New Year to all!

Title: First Review
Posted: December 30, 2007 (11:29 PM)
Finished my first review and got it submitted..good news is was good enough for the site, which makes me proud. I reviewed Dino Crisis which is a great game aside from a few of the wonky camera movements later in the game. I chose it because I remember playing it before I ever heard of Resident Evil, and i remember the joy on my face the first time I actually took out the T-Rex the second time through after unlocking the infinite ammo for the Grenade Pistol (oops..I gave it away). lol You'll have to read my review to get that joke.

Title: SF Honorable
Posted: December 30, 2007 (07:29 AM)
Wow, I have just seen the screenshots for Street Fighter 4 and I am awe-struck. It looks really great, and the fact that they are sticking with a 2D feel but with some 3D pivoting is awesome.
When I first saw the trailor for it I nearly drooled all over myself. The dirt and shadow effect was awesome, but when you look at the trailor and the screenshots they don't exactly match-up theme wise. While the trailor had a type of Sin City feel to it, the screenshots are really clean (bright colors, old-school SFII Turbo streets in the background) so as always the trailor must be the teaser, but the screenshots themselves by themselves are evidence that the game will be awesome and true to old school fanatics of SF. The fact that the game will be online as well is even more of a candy package, finally a way to show fighter superiority globally! Line up is already including Chun-Li, Ryu and Ken (the screenshots around the web are including the mighty buds locked in martial arts battle), and Dhalsim. I am hopeful for Cammy and Akuma to make the line-up as well the almightily shocking Blanka! But we'll see I suppose. Either way, I definitely will need to get a PS3 for this monster of a resurrection. Some of the screenshots are here if anyone has yet to see them: http://kotaku.com/assets/resources/ 2007/12/streetfighterivmedia.jpeg

Title: Ouch
Posted: December 28, 2007 (08:03 PM)
I have just recently turned into a heavy PC Gamer, World of Warcraft being the main reason, but as soon as I reached lvl 40...I don't know...I guess I lost the flavor for it...and then there is my Guild Wars. Guild Wars I could play all day long, kinda ironic really, most people if they get addicted to any game online usually now-a-days tends to be a game such as World of Warcraft. Which is the opposite of Guild wars in terms of enthrallment material....kinda hard explain but for those that know what I am speaking of, back me up on this.
A PC gamer without a reliable PC, is like a fish out of water! My computer got bugged, and not just any bug, a super-bug or virus of some sort. Not only did it knock out the defenses of my McAfee and Windows Firewall but it corrupted most of my files as well wiped my out my OS! Then on top of that, as per my comp crashing due to the virus, it would not turn back on afterwards. I tried replacing the power supply, tried another motherboard I had on extra as well as another hard drive but to no avail. So what does this mean? Well, first off, I am the type to back up my files, so they have been backed up on my site and server as well as my secondary hard drive. Second, I have had the computer that I was using for like the last 3 years and no probs whatsoever until today. So, sad to say, I pulled my backup HD, my vid card , my optical drive, and my RAM then tossed my old friend into the dumpster (ragged ol' tower anyway, seen more dings than a shopping cart in a parking lot). So, for now I am stuck on my parents computer updating the site every so often. The only drawback to this situation (aside from the crash of '07) is no gaming online whatsoever. Due to the fact that the computer upon which I type this blog can barely handle Win XP as it is, but I am grateful. I plan on buying a new and better computer at the end of January so I suppose at least one thing will be brand new at the start of next year, so it worx out. PS: Some people would argue Norton over McAfee and some people would argue neither, but I am a McAfee man, and proud of it! PSS??: My PS2 is great so I am good on that front, thank the good lord! :D

Title: An Attempt At A Review Attempt
Posted: December 27, 2007 (08:58 AM)
As I laced up my boots this morning getting ready for work, I thought to myself "maybe I should try and write a game review, a full-fledged game review". I recently submitted some to the site and after reading some of the reviews that other good gamers submitted, I can understand why mine were not put up. They were too short! lol It has occurred to me that reviews take time and indulgence into the game, so basically just putting my everyday gameplaying thoughts and feeling into words. Duh!
*kneels to one knee* "Forgive me site gurus, for I knew not what I did! (which was, submit some very short reviews to the site that I put no long-term feeling and thoughts into!)" Anyways, if I get some time in the next day or two I am definitely gonna give it a shot, maybe someone can provide some pointers to help a wannabe "critic" out...lol...anything could help!

Title: Post-Christmas Mortem
Posted: December 26, 2007 (09:26 AM)
My gift-games that I received over Christmas from my family are dead!
I had received..Duel Masters, Call of Duty 3, and Soul Calibur II (a classic if ever you have played it). All three were scratched up to high heaven, two of them would not load and the other would not even get past the first cut-scene without skippin' like a bumped record player! I was curious why I had received them in a such a scratched up condition, so I asked around and lo-and-behold they were bought at none other than...*drumroll*...GameStop! (Tell me you didn't see it comin', I know I did!) I took all three back to a local store to get them replaced because I had received the gift receipts with the games (I love my family!). I handed them to the "gamer" behind the counter, but after explaining my tale to the guy, I was told they were out of all three games! So, with a long sigh and a heavy heart, I just let them go...got some store credit back on them and purchased something I have been looking for for awhile...Capcom VS SNK 2...and I did as any smart gamer does when they shop at GameStop, I checked the disc and a rarity hit me like a ton of bricks, it looked brand spankin' new, not a scratch was to be seen! I was joyous post Christmas! So, I now play my game with glee even though it is not the games I had received from under the good ol' Christmas tree. But, a warning be included here within these words! If you buy from the freak cousin of Starbucks that is GameStop, check ye disc(s) cuz ye never know what be lurkin on the underside!

Title: Up late...
Posted: December 24, 2007 (01:32 AM)
While I am waiting on my site to publish, thought I would give a little well...thought.
Christmas comes but once a year...but not for me! Everyday it seems thats you learn something new and such is the old saying. For me learning something new has always been a joy, because every new thing learned is another permanent spark in the brain function. And, that is exactly why playing new games, meeting new challenges, and solving new puzzles are great tools for the intellect. But enough about that... Played GUN for most of the day today and I am right near the end, so close in fact that I can taste the fear of the final boss. What a sweet flavor that is the fear in game characters! Mwahahaha! But, I digress, I cut it off early and did some Christmas shopping for the family for tomorrow, we always do our Christmas lunch and presents on the Eve and I always enjoy it. So, I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and may it filled with gamely goodness!

Title: Updating a site...
Posted: December 22, 2007 (10:49 PM)
Most people don't know it but it takes alot to keep a decent site up and running...
Take mine for example, I spend at least 4-6 hours a day updating, tweaking, adding new content, etc. I have been doing this for the past 2 months and I have not even hit the tip of the iceberg of what most webmasters put into theirs. But, when you have the heart and the drive for the cause....no obstacle is too great, no road too long. I love doing my site mainly for the pure sake of doing my part of keeping retro-gaming alive. The memories of a distant childhood, the great achievements of the present, and the hopes for the future.....all in gaming. I am a gamer through and through, and becoming a hardcore gamer with a website by hours of the day. lol It is a great feeling to know that a fun cause is being worked for by the self. Now on to my game of the day, I set aside the devils for 24 hours to work on my Gun file. I have not yet beat the game but I am about 5 hours into it at least (I just now am ambushing the big boss!) I love the acting in the game, as well as the gritty feel of it, it is basically a linear, old west version of GTA. I am hopeful to beat it by the end of the week. If work and the site allows!
