Obviously, if I have a profile on this site, it means that I play video games. I also happen to write, and the two have made a harmonious combination for a hobby. I mainly write FAQs and reviews, and *try* to stick to one of these categories:
-RPG and non-linear adventure games
-Anything with horror or b-movie elements
-Anything unique, obscure, or just plain weird
Sounds broad, but it also means you probably won't see a Super Mario Bros. 3 review from me any time soon.
Title: Working on hororr-themed games reviews for this month... Posted: October 08, 2011 (12:08 AM)
Christmas? Fourth of July? Birthday? Nah, I'm a Halloween guy all the way. I love horror movies, both the good and the bad, and I enjoy horror-themed games. Already did one for Castlevania II, and are some others I'd like to touch on (though I'm not guaranteeing that these ones will go live):
Cursed Mountain (Wii) Silent Hill (PSX) Friday the 13th (NES) A Nightmare on Elm Street (NES)
-Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse/Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo/Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Ghoul School (NES)
-Frankenstein: The Monster Returns (NES) Koudelka (PSX)
Possible, but not likely:
Wanted to do, but pretty much not happening due to sickness and such:
-The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Atari 2600)
-Frankenstein's Monster (Atari 2600)
-Escape from Bug Island (Wii)
-Dr. Chaos (NES)
-The Castlevania Adventure (GB)
-Silent Hill 2 (PS2)
-Clock Tower (PSX)
-The Evil Dead (C64)
-Zombies Ate My Neighbors

You owe it to yourself to do Castlevania III to wash the taste of Simon's Quest out of your mouth.
You also owe it to your sanity to pretend you never thought about doing the SNES Doom. It's a port so bad, that the only reason you wouldn't think Color Dreams had something to do with it is that when nothing's moving, the graphics are rendering pretty nicely. Unfortunately, to play the game, you have to move eventually and it all goes to hell then.

I rented Doom on SNES one weekend. I almost called the police because it was so criminally awful. I felt like Id Software stole my $3.23, which was a sizable chunk of my $5 allowance. Oh, I was so pissed! No, that game deserves the horrific rating it will/might get from me!
