Discord is bad for business
August 24, 2018

When I had first starting using Discord I had noticed that this is more like an iirc chat program with more features than any other chat available then. This is a plus, but it also has its negative setbacks. Its a chat program for one, and as all chats you may had experienced, some suffer from biased Staff and Ownership which turn on you on a dime in an unanimous vote to ban you from their server even when presenting evidence on anything that may had happened between you and toxic member of said server. Some even go as far as stating blocking someone for starting trouble with you is a valid excuse. And while you may shrug off being out of a server of many available, Discord actually goes the extra mile with said toxic members spreading ill word about you to other servers they had joined, which in turn end up banning you when you haven't even joined them much less starting trouble of any sort. This happening to me and others whom I heard having the same experience. You may tell me I could file a report to Discord itself and I had, all the times I had reported said bullying behavior I would get an automated reply stating all I should do is to block said members and even try talking to Staff who runs the places. If this isn't a slap on the face of those being picked on using said app then I really don't know how else I could view it as. For one, you cannot talk to anyone if you are not in said server due for being banned or otherwise so this "advice" Discord gives out is as useful as with what Twitter does when your account gets suspended.

Aside from the toxic individuals abusing their power given in Servers and those who like to goad them into harming others, some Servers seem to push anyone joining into giving them their personal info going as far as asking for a scanned image of your Drivers License to make sure you are an adult and not some kid joining their server. Their other excuse being that you could easily black out anything other than what they want to see as proof of you being over 18 and whatnot. This again Discord seems to have no problem when you report an obvious case of personal info theft which is what I will referring it as. I don't need to reveal any personal info if I don't choose to and quite frankly its ridiculous when you see any Server asking for such if I want to joining a place sharing the same taste on videogames as I do. This sort of thing seems to be more suitable (and no, I do not agree with either) for certain type of servers, ones where you have cybersex and can submit pornography freely, which takes me to the next part of my rant.

Pornography and cybersex roleplaying in Discord: As far as I had known, Discord was initially created for gamers to connect with each other, and while there are indeed videgames that pander to Mature audiences including blatant adult content, I cannot see how its alright for anyone managing the entire thing in having such servers around. Servers vary from your typical XXX rated content to ones that allow you to live your fetish acting as a furry getting it on with a character from My Little pony. If some are worried that underaged members be around well this sort of servers are sure not helping. Anyone can still lie and pretend to be an adult just to get it on with whoever is on the other side of the screen. I had read articles on child predators interacting with kids in such ways, some even distributing child pornography and I seem to recall Discord basically shrugging its shoulders about the entire thing.

True, I can just shrug my own shoulders and just join what I enjoy forgetting about toxicity and sexual molestation, but the fact is Discord should work on having more control on the entire thing and stop denying reports about such matters, from blatant bullying to sexual content being acted out.

Below are a couple of links which further demonstrate how Discord manages to be used as a cesspool than a positive bridge to connect anything in the least.
