Mario Galaxy and various thoughts
December 28, 2007

I spent most of the day at my buddies place the other day. We played some Street Fighter II Turbo on his Wii via Virtual Console. We had a fierce 40ish rounds. Ah, how I love Street Fighter. He's pretty good with Balrog. After that, we played some SSBMelee with his siblings, which always gets a bit heated between him and his siblings. Played my cycle of characters: Ness, Samus, Link, Young Link. Fun stuff! That's the only time I play Smash Bros is when I go over there, so they all are usually slightly better than me each time I go over. Heh.

Then, I got to try out Mario Galaxy. I gathered about 5 stars. And damn, it's pretty fuckin' cool. I was impressed. The controls are amazingly intuitive.

Locoroco craziness
December 24, 2007

Well, I've began work on a Locoroco review. But I feel I should complete the game before I finish it. This is the second time that I've began on a different review than already scheduled. Silly me, oh well. Locoroco is a pretty cool game, but sometimes the music either disturbs me, or annoys me. Sometimes it's really good though, too. Specifically, the Halloween-esque song and some other tribal sounding song really annoy me. I can handle listening to pipsqueaks singing in jibberish for only so long. Thusly, I usually don't play Locoroco much longer than a half hour in a sitting. When I do sit down and play, there is usually something amusing that has come up in the stages. Charming game. I tried the Chuppa chuppa minigame and a crane minigame, the crane game just sucked balls.

more thoughts on star ocean 3
December 23, 2007

The isometric view the game has is somewhat disorienting. It's like Xenogears' camera, you're always rotating it to get the right view for what you want to see. With SO3's isometric camera, I just wish it were angled a little lower than it is, it seems like it's at a 45 degree angle and too close to the character, at times. There are some nice sights to see in the game occasionally, like the rivers or waterfalls that run alongside a town or a map, and the camera barely lets you capture those picture-esque qualities. But of course, you get used to it. But on the other hand, it still bothers me, and if something could have been changed, I would ask that to be changed.

Ugh, Star Ocean 3's sappy story
December 22, 2007

Gotten a bunch more hours into SO3... the game has been a lot more breezy since I got Cliff using Hammer of Might, he's fuckin' insane. Just got Maria, not sure if I'm gonna replace Nel right away, we'll see how it goes.

But ugh, I really don't like Fayt's character. Always bitching'. Cliff is the man, though. I think I might layoff the Star Ocean and go back to Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne. Since I just interrupted my playing of that for Star Ocean all-a-sudden.

foreign territory
December 21, 2007

hawks and eagles blue on tough rough turfs
skipping down the cliff face memory-last smile,
shimmering speckle of the universe present at
waterfall tips in infinities, red mysteries,
down the deltas and trivulates, tributaries,
rivers in outer space gliding down the dragon's tongue,
fire breath reserve the death inducing grin
that's a mighty dragon,
yeah, that's a mighty dragon.

fire breath lizards moping down the highway
are also alert to perfect square dust mansions
that house all the rust of organism crust,
damned chatterbugs warm by their fires
or furnaces whatever.

that's a dime from my mouth, have you trained your ear?
something so clear as resting on my boat
yet you become difficult, your fear-in-clear delicacy of mind and tongue the lick of rum.

Shadow of the Colossus Review... to be posted soon!
December 21, 2007

Yep. I decided to write a SotC review all-a-sudden. 'Cause it's kickass, pretty much. That should be up soon. I also submitted some Tales of Destiny II screenshots, under the guidelines, I might add! Irfanview is a really great program for resizing, cropping, and saving image files by the way. I recommend it.I'm wondering though, where do I go to see other peoples blog entries as they make them? From what I gather there is a place that shows this, but I can't navigate my way to it, for some reason. >_
