The Getaway review

Reviewed January 22, 2003

aldo2003 says: "Have you ever fancied visiting England's vibrant and exciting capital city London, but you just can't afford the ticket? Ever wanted to drive around London shooting gangsters, but don't want to spend anytime at Her Majesty's Pleasure? Ever wanted to be a corrupt police officer trying to rid the streets of London of crime? "

autorock says: "It's crap living in Britain. Truly dire. We have finally gotten rid of the Black Death, but we're still plagued by the mind-numbing scenery, the vomit-inducing food, and the jaw-dropping idiocy of the vast majority of our population. Worst of all though is that unchanging, unescapable chalk-grey sky; I'd go so far as to say it is the sole reason that life in the United Kingdom is so unbearably fucking grim. "

kingbroccoli says: "If the vibrating function of my dual-shock controller was still alive today (which it isn’t, thanks Sony!) then I’m sure it would quake uncontrollably every time my copy of The Getaway finds its way into my PS2. "

wolfqueen001 says: "Multiple accidents and numerous carjackings later, you’ll find the gang’s hideaway. There you have to kill everybody while seeking the child’s location. Accomplish this and you’ll be rewarded with another lengthy cut scene where you learn that Mark is in way over his head. Blackmailed by Bethnal Green boss, Charlie Jolson, and his henchmen, Hammond is forced to obey the man’s every whim or else lose his boy forever."
