Genj says: "On a train heading through China, Alice Elliot finds herself in custody of the Japanese military who intend to deliver the girl with mysterious powers to their homeland. Unfortunately a dapper English gent named Roger Bacon has other plans. He effortlessly summons hideous demons to devour the heads of the soldiers who meet their grisly demise without a fight. Bacon would have soon kidnapped Alice had it not been for a brash young man Yuri and his natural talents as a Harmonixer – one who transfo..."

jerec says: "As the camera pans down on the street corner outside a church, we see the bloodied and scattered remains of a body strewn all over the cobbled street. This gruesome collection of bloody flesh and bones is all that remains of a priest who was murdered here by something that couldn’t possibly be human. The body is desecrated beyond recognition. And to make matters worse, the preist's daughter, Alice, is missing. It looks as if she may meet a similar fate. Shadow Hearts establishes a very da..."

mgtonvac55 says: "Shadow Hearts is a shining gem in the collection of RPG's everywhere. This December-2001 release was unfortunately overshadowed by the releases of other popular games. Sacnoth was not a big name at the time and it got little attention. The most notable reason this masterpiece of gaming was ignored is because of the release of Final Fantasy X, which was released at practically the same time. Shadow Hearts is an unsung hero in the RPG world. After the high of Square's own gem in the form of an RPG..."

peterl90 says: "I'm going to come out and say it. Shadow Hearts is easily my favorite RPG, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give it a 10 for everything. That would be close minded. I try to keep an open mind when playing a game and when reviewing it, meaning I try my best not to be biased at all. With that out of the way, I really do think it's a shame that Shadow Hearts was released around the same time as Final Fantasy X. That's most likely the main reason why this game was overlooked, and was only recently..."

psychopenguin says: "There's a lot of complaints about role playing games nowadays. People say they are nothing more than glorified books, with stale battle systems (I got to push X again? Sigh.), boring storylines (save the damsel in distress or save the world from an evil madman in some ancient fantasy land!), and redundant fetch quests. And they'd be right. As big of a RPG fan as I am, I can admit to the flaws of the genre, and I wished a game would come along and break all the stereotypes and blow me away. "
