You'll love how Link’s Awakening throws you into the thick of things right away (remember striking out into the rain in Zelda III?), and without a weapon! We are unsettled by the sense of urgency, and it’s very fun to be so off balance so early on. The trumpet-led music harkens back to the very first game in the series, The Legend of Zelda, stirring you into action with appropriate and welcome fanfare.

Once upon a time, there was a princess, noble and fair. Beloved by her subjects, this gentle maiden had but one real failing: every other week, she'd be kidnapped by some weird-looking villain, and an asexual midget in a green dress would have to rescue her. There'd be some kind of mystical triangle-power involved, as well as much questing. But, in the end, she would be rescued, and the evil would be forever sealed until the next time around.

I always thought that nerds on the Internet who wine “it’s all about the gameplay!” when their favorite game gets ripped on for some stupid gimmick or whatever were idiots. Obviously gameplay is the most important aspect of any game, but I would be damned if graphics, sound, replay value, etc don’t matter at all.

This is by-far the first Zelda game I had ever played. I was easily confused at first, and had trouble getting past the very first puzzles (that dumb mushroom). But after a little help from my peers, and my refusal to ever give up, I had one of the funnest gaming experiences. This Zelda game is a classic, made many years ago. I got this when I first got the gameboy game, and picked up the DX version later.

Everybody loves Zelda. I'm fairly sure that it's a scientific fact or something. From the very first time young Link set out across Hyrule to rescue the titular princess back in the early days of the NES (has it really been that long??) gamers have marvelled over it's fantastic depth and gameplay. So it was no surprise when Zelda: Link's Awakening (the fourth installment in the franchise) arrived on the original Game Boy. What did surprise people was the fact that it was almost universally haile...
