Cheesy B-quality science fiction movies apparently have their occasional videogame equivalents. Case in point: Zombie Nation, a game in which you play a leering severed head and battle American citizens who have been turned into zombies by a malevolent alien named Darc Seed.

When I saw the cover art for Zombie Nation, I initially thought, "Whoa, this game looks awesome! I can't wait to kill all these zombies! I don't really know what that giant head is laughing about in the background, but whatever, this game has to be good!" I soon discovered that the giant head on the cover was laughing at me. Not only laughing, but cackling. Cackling because his crappy old game sold again(I bought it used). His plan to lure me in by means of box art worked ...

In a shooter, extremely loose controls serve only to infuriate gamers by adding an element of cheapness to the difficulty. This is precisely what the game does, and it pays for it in the end. Instead of an action-packed mixture of beauty and quirk, Zombie Nation is an unstable and tedious shooter.
